Weeping, Mourning and Gnashing of Teeth

This election has thrown me for a loop. I am more upset that Mayor Holder did not get re-elected than I am about not getting elected. I'm sorry to disappoint the readers of the blog, but regardless of who was elected in Ward 3, they have a good representation on the board. However, there's no voice for the younger generation on the board, but since the younger generation did not get out to vote, I guess they didn't want their voices heard. Now. On to the issues at hand. It's no secret that I did not support Ben Winston. Personally, I can't support anyone that will have an elderly woman charged with trespassing for going to her home church and I cannot support a man that will pay thousands, in order to make sure his city does not get any revenue from the sale of the formaldehyde trailers that led to the demise of the Planning and Zoning Committee. Also, the antics that took place at City Hall the day after election, further let me know that Ben Winston is not the...

Is It Summer Already?

Last night, there was a lot of commotion going on in the area of Lumberton that is rapidly earing the name Da Trapp (aka, Turn-key/Frank Lee Homes). I received a call about a fight going on and when I looked out the door, I noticed three police cars parked on Myrick Avenue. I went back into the house and was getting details about what had happened. From what I was told, someone shot himself in the leg and several people had gotten into an altercation, but no one was taken to jail. In Lumberton, you get arrested for parking tickets, not for disobeying a lawful order or discharging a fire arm, but it is what it is. As I was talking on the phone, I asked the person on the other end of the phone "did you ever wonder why this mess never happens in New Jack (oka New Jackfrica/Green-Tree Apts.)" Then I realized that the reason they're always bring their drama to The Key/Da Trapp is because the manger of Frank Lee Homes is not actively doing anything to quell the chaos. Whi...

Was It Something I Said?

I received an interesting comment Wednesday. I would have published the comment, but I generally don’t post comments submitted by cowards. I don’t do general statement; making comments that could apply to almost anyone. Whenever I have something to say about an individual, there is no confusion about the identity of that person. I fell that if a person is bold enough to sit down at their computer or phone and submit a comment that states that I’m a racist, then that coward should exhibit that same boldness and submit their name along with their comment. So, when the issue came up a few weeks ago about the Nathan Bedford Forrest car tag, I wasn’t upset about the matter. I thought it would be a great idea; at least there would be a segment of racists within the State of Mississippi that would be willing to identify themselves and we would know who they were because it would on their tag. ( For the record, I truly believe that anyone that would purchase a car tag to commemorate the f...

Political Assassins

Image
Now the story you are about to read is fictional and any similarities to any persons dead or alive is purely coincidental. Image there was a group of individuals that devised a plan to take over your city. Little by little, they edged their way into every aspect of government; each move was carefully calculated like a grand game of chess. You try to escape them, but they have recruited people from every walk of life. They have elected officials, attorneys, police officers, office workers and even members of the press. For the sake of this post, let’s refer to them as political assassins. People will probably say that I am being negative, that I am trying to tarnish the already tarnished reputation of a little city south of Hattiesburg. I guess they need someone to blame. Well, blame it on the drugs, blame it on the Goose, blame it on the Henny, blame it on the rain, blame it on whatever. I consider my self a community activist, and I just happen to be black. So when I started th...

Say What?

I have received a lot of input from readers of this blog and that was why I recently added this blog to Facebook. I was apprehensive at first because when I tried to start the Lumberton Informer page, the readers had to become fans of the page. I don't consider the readers of my blog as fans, but now that Facebook has changed the fan-ish nature of their site, people can simply confirm that they "like" the page. I do take into consideration what is being said in the comments and the e-mails. However, the comment I received stating that I am not doing anything positive for the City of Lumberton is unfounded. The two mayors that served prior to Mayor Holder derrogated the City of Lumberton, and now I am being accused of dragging the city's name through the mud. Give me a break. The work I am doing, and have done for this city has been positive. When Mayor Holder was serving as Alderwoman-at-Large, she appointed me to the Lumberton Planning and Zoning Committee. For...

Oops!!

Well, well, well. I guess I struck a nerve. Today I was supposed to be talking about trash cans, not trash. Did you see the comments posted on Tales From the Hood? Now, what saddle-bag heifer posted that juicy tidbit of information. If that got you water boiling, you better get a bigger cup. Are you serious? Are you accusing me of posting children's mess on facebook? Well, when adults became involved, it was no longer children's mess, and pull out your hooked on phonics tapes, because my blog stated that I was at New Jack for 30 minutes, not three hours. And why I didn't post this when I was manager at New Jack, well, we didn't have facebook in 2004 and when I was manager, I spent as little time as possible on that side. Seriously, you had to go back to rumors from 2005 to try to get at me, please come better than that. I hope you've noticed that I removed you comment, but hey, this is my blog, and I have that authority. So, for my anonymous fan that don't...

Tales From Da Hood

I spent about thirty minutes under the tree at New Jack, and I got more information than this post could hold. So, I was sitting at home wondering if I should post this information, since it happened a week ago. Well, you know my motto, if you don't have anything good to say about a person, then sit by me. Usually, I don’t speak in generalizations, but since I didn’t actually see the events that took place, I must speak in general terms. Allegedly, a young boy held his girlfriend/baby momma captive. While holding this girl captive, the boy had allegedly bit this girl in some very private areas. I wonder what the girl was doing while he was biting her in those areas. (It reminds me a little of the Desiree Washington case against Mike Tyson). The girl allegedly texted her brother, and he called some friends, and they rescued the girl that was allegedly being held captive. Somehow, during the process of rescuing the damsel in distress, the teenage boys allegedly jumped the teena...
