Motives

The other day, it was reported that Alderman at Large was present for the certification of the votes. What are his motives for being there? It's strange that he has time to attend that meeting but couldn't make room in his schedule to attend the board meeting to vote on a new insurance carrier. I don't know why this election was so important to Gibson, but sooner or later, his true motives will show in the voting pattern. We probably will never understand the TRUE motives behind Gibson political aspirations, but I have a theory on why he ran in the first place. For those of you that might not remember, some years ago, Gibson applied for the position of Public Works Director. Holder and Rogers were serving as aldermen at the time. For some reason, Gibson wasn't hired; a perfume attendant was. I think over the years, Gibson has let that moment build up and now that he's an elected official of Lumberton, he's using his position/influence to run this city into the ground. July 13, 2012 will mark this board's third year in office and there is still no cohesion among the board. Now, they will vote against anything that will benefit this city and for anything that will hurt the city. They have not brought in any jobs, any revenue, and they continue to hire without any idea of how to pay for things. For instance, when Fortenberry was Chief of Police, they would hold an Inquisition during every board meeting asking the Chief about gas purchases. But when Hobson was appointed chief, they wouldn't say anything about the increased gas usage or the purchase orders for essential items like iPhones. Now everybody knows that every police department needs iPhones instead of cars. Let them eat cake was their attitude since Chief Hobson had unlimited access to fuel and purchase orders. Recently, this board has failed to hire a new chief because they are still scrambling to bring Hobson back into the fold. One would think that Gibson would be more than happy to hire Cowart as Chief of Police because she has helped to keep some of his family members out of jail. (Tales from the Hood). I really don't know why this board is continuing to fight against progress and beating on their chests for finally voting to close out grants initiated by the previous board. Will this board leave any working revenue for the next board? Only time will tell. Thankfully, we only have one more year of this discord.
