Willie Heidleberg: 2016 Hall of Fame Inductee

Image
Today, in Jackson, Mississippi, Lumberton native, Willie "Wee" Heidleberg was inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Heidelberg is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a letterman running back for the Golden Eagles during the 1970 and 1971 seasons. On October 17th 1970, Heidelberg helped lead Southern Mississippi to a 30-14 upset victory over Archie Manning and the fourth ranked Ole Miss Rebels. Heidelberg also played football at Pearl River Community College (1968-1969). He is a member of the Pearl River CC Sports Hall of Fame. "Coach Heidelberg was a humble man of few words, but with a life of untold impact. He is an example to us all of how “to serve, not be served.” Belhaven Director of Athletics, Scott Little In one of his last recorded interviews, Heidelburg says rarely a week goes by when somebody doesn’t mention that day 40 years ago when he ran into the end zone twice and into history – not just black histo

Ms. Mary: A Paragon of Love

Image
On the sixth day of Creation God created man in His own image but even God knew that His work was not done until he created woman. Regardless of the might of man, there are things that couldn’t be accomplished without the caress, the wink, the unconditional love, the pat on the back, the sustenance, the maintenance of a woman. I praise God Almighty that we were bestowed with such a woman as Mary Toney, the one I affectionally called Ms, Mary. Last week, when I heard the news that she had transitioned into eternity, my heart grew heavy but the memory of her smile, her warmth and her compassion has given me comfort. I am still grieving over the fact that I won’t see her smile or hear her comforting words on this side of Glory but I don’t grieve as those who have no hope. ". . She is clothed with strength and dignity. She can laugh at things to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not

Yesterday I was supposed to go before the judge regarding the lawsuit that's being levied against my First Amendment Rights by the Lumberton City Jerk Clerk. As I expected, almost all of Lumberton's elected officials were present; despite the tragedy that occurred in his family, Bobby Gibson decided not to comfort his sister but opted to come to court to support his boss, Ben Winston. I arrived early for two reasons: so I could speak with my attorney and so I could look the snakes in their eyes when they came up the stairs. However, I wasn't prepared for the large crowd that was waiting in the corridor. Apparently, there are people, unlike the thief, Jay McGraw, that must go before a judge to answer to their crimes. Since I had my back to the entrance, the snakes slithered in one by one. When I looked up, I saw Melissa slither by. So I'm guessing that her testimony was purchased with the 32 hours of work she was given after

Though My Enemies Encamp About Me...God is With Me

I am going into court this morning and I am asking for your prayers because I will face accusations from most of the elected and appointed officials of the City of Lumberton. We live in an age where a member of Congress can call the President of the United States a liar during the State of the Union Address, we live in an age where terrorists are giving religious protection and their representatives are allowed to addressed the UN but here in the small city of Lumberton, freedom of speech, transparency in government, access to public records and growth is shunned. This is a sad day for this city and this is a sad day for the freedom of speech we are guaranteed as citizens of the United States of America. As I get ready to go into battle, I am comforted by Psalms 27: 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me t

My Freedom of Speech is NOT Negotiable

Image
The readers of this blog know that I am being sued by the Lumberton City Clerk. It seems that she is offended by the fact that I exercise my freedom of speech. On Tuesday, September 22, 2015 we will go to court and see if Freedom of Speech as unwanted in the City of Lumberton as progress. Since no one was subpoenaed for this case, it will be interesting to see who attends this trial. I am certain that most of the elected officials of Lumberton will be there despite their record of telling half-truths, stealing and other durrrty deeds. It's possible that a former elected official may be ready to take the stands as well. The fact that elected officials and candidate in the upcoming election have a vested interest in shutting down my freedom of speech speaks volumes of their agenda. It is my belief that we need more people speaking out. Contrary to popular belief, the City of Lumberton is not overrun with free thinkers; it's overrun with sheep and conformists.&quo

Lying for Jesus?

Yesterday, I announced that Cuevas Fish House was moving to Lumberton. The post was the highest trending topic ever for the Lumberton Informer. According to the metrics, at the time of this posting, the post reached over 29,000 people. Most of the comments were from people that were elated about the news. However, there was one comment that stood out in the crowd. Someone asked why the Mayor of Lumberton didn't know about a business coming to his city and this was the response: "The mayor doesn't tell everything he knows because the negative Nellies run off businesses before they can get in the door to buy a business permit. There were 2 or 3 interested in some of the industrial park and people were so ugly they left town saying the people here don't want new businesses." Well, based on the response regarding the news about Cuevas moving to Lumberton, I can say that it's not true that the residents of Lumberton do not want new business in thei

The People Are Speaking But Are You Listening?

The other night, the Mayor and Board adopted a budget for FY 2016. Prior to the meeting, there were several citizens that had questions for the Mayor. Since Ben Winston could not answer the questions, he make the claim that the meeting was getting out of control. No, the meeting was not getting out of control, he just didn't want to hear from the residents of Lumberton. Surprisingly, he want the same residents he's shunning to turn around and vote for him in November. If you're not listening to us in this small area, what makes you think he's going to listen when he's in a bigger position with more responsibility. Mayor Winston said that this board had turned this city around. I made a video asking when did this city turn around because I obviously missed it. Since I know that this page is monitored by Ben's Clerks, I decided to post a written response to the new claim that the City of Lumberton has been turned around by this board. I'm posting the i

City for Sale: Lowest Bid Accepted

Image
At the last board meeting, there was an attempt to sell the old Lumberton Hospital for $500. Earlier in the meeting, a bid for $93,645.00 to supply sewer lines to the residents of Lower Airport Road was rejected because they wanted another evaluation but the board was ready to give away the hospital and all the land attached for a measly $500. Kind of like renting an entire airport for $350/month. The vote was tied but if confessed shoplifter Jay McGraw was at the meeting, I'm almost certain he would have voted to give away the hospital. It seems that a steal of a deal was averted by the absense of the actual thief. Now the citizens are aware of the underhanded deal, they can get in on the next bidding process but I'm concerned about the integrity of the bidding process. Bids are supposed to be opened in the board room but last night, the bid was opened prior to the meeting. Now it's an uncertainty if anyone other than Mr. John Delk can actually purchase the property sinc

Review of September 1, 2015 Board Meeting: The Steal of the Century Edition

Image
Noticeably absent from the meeting was confessed shoplifter and elected official, Jay McGraw. It was rumored that he was in a treatment facility for PTSD but I think he's in rehab somewhere. Surely, that shoplifting incident didn't tramuatize him since this wasn't his first time getting caught stealing, allegedly. You remember when I said that Jay was too comfortable stealing and how I didn't think it was his first time. Well, I was right. I always wondered why Jay and Melissa fell out and she risked her job by cussing out an alderman. Those of you familiar with Jay McGraw know he spends an excessive amount of time at city hall. Well..........I hate to leave you hanging but the rest of the story will be discussed with my attorney and the other details will be posed as questions when Jay takes the stand to testify about my blog. I'm not sure if Jay McGraw have access to my blog while in rehab or while he's getting treated for PTSD but I can't waste these p

Liars and Thieves: Meeting at 6

Over the weekend, I was looking into the stings that were pulled to coverup the shoplifting incident at the Shell station. As I was trying to uncover the coverup, I ran into one roadblock after another. I dawned on me that the coverup was coming from within. Tommie Mosley convinced her employees that upper management didn't want charges filed. After speaking to one of her employees, it was revealed that she didn't call 911; instead she called Chief Elsie Cowart directly. After this call, Operation Cover-Up was birthed. The investigation had some twists and turns. Most of my efforts to discover the truth were hindered by the Shell staff who's attitudes are as raggedy as their parking lot. Thankfully, I was able to glean enough details to know that the refusal to arrest Alderman Jay McGraw was something allowed by Chief Cowart and had the Seal of Approval from Mayor Ben Winston. Had this case been handled properly, Jay McGraw would have been arrested and his resignation
