I received an email about the post I made earlier and they asked if I was afraid of being named in the case Stephanie is planning against the City of Lumberton. First of all, I wasn't aware of any case. Secondly, why would I be named in a lawsuit. I also received an email from someone asking if I'm afraid of being disliked. Obviously, the author of the the latter email must not know bout me (in my Beyonce voice). Let me clear my throat. I'm not a glass half full or glass half empty type of person. I just want to make sure the glass is clean and the water is clear. I have not problem with being disliked. However, I have a problem when people that don't know me dislike me. Get to know me and I'm quite sure I will give you a reason to dislike me. It's like this, if I've done something that offended you, give me a call. If you don't have my number, then you don't know me well enough to have an issue with me. Capish. Now back to the matter of getti

The Cash Cow and Game of Chicken: Lumberton Edition

There are those that say I use this blog for personal reasons/agendas and to that I respond, you dayum right. I have had a personal feud with the city clerk for quite some time and for those of you that had your heads in the sand, I will share with you the reason why. I have known Stephanie most of my life. It was not until we reached adulthood that I realized how cunning and manipulative she was/is. I was finished with my posts about our embattled city clerk until I found out that she has me listed as owing yet another fine to the City of Lumberton. The day she and Hobson plotted to have an arrest warrant signed for failure to pay the three parking tickets that were issued for me illegally parking in front of my residence, I was given a speeding ticket. Hobson was driving, but Yates was the one that signed the ticket. I was summoned to court for the speeding ticket, 31 in a 25 mph speed zone. For the first court appearance, I asked for an continuance because I was waiting for som

Speak the Truth: Shame the Debble (Devil)

Yesterday was one of them days. It seems people are paying attention to the blog lately. Bloggers have more leeway than normal reporters because we don't have to vet our information, but I try to make sure the information I'm putting out there is correct. Well, the other day, I posted about the police department and the issuance of a warrant. In all honesty, I did not attempt to get the other side of the story. I just took the second/third hand information and let my fingers do the walking. Well, when Lumberton 7 conforted me about the imporprities within the post, I removed the post from the site, but as we know, I can't go back and unring the bell. There are some that may say I posted the story because Chief Elsie Cowart does not like me. To be honest, that's neither here nor there and her disdain towards me is her issue, not mine. But I must be more mindful of the things I post. I have interacted with Lumberton 7 on many occassions and she has always been professi

Ballz Deep: Pun Intended

I have been getting feedback about the recent line of posts that have been generated on this blog; some good and some. . well. I've also heard that several aldermen are upset about being referred to as eunuchs. Heavens to Betsy, I thought they didn't read this blog. But why are they upset? Were the things I said false? No. Did they have an opporutnity to end this travesty of fiscal irresponsiblity a long time ago? Yes. So let me clear up the eunuch statement before moving on. I know they're not actual eunuchs, but politically, they're eunuchs. It don't take balls to lie, cheat, steal, sell drugs, cheat on your spouse or any other act of lawlessness/cowardice. However, it takes a pair to do the right thing. To stand in the midst of adversity. To do the right thing even when others are going down the wrong path. To stand for truth, justice and integrity when everyone else is so easily swayed into getting on the slippery slope. That's ballzy (and no I don't

Shingles or Sham

Image
I don't know how true it is, but it seems that we have a city employee that is battling a case of shingles. I'm not a medical professional, but that seems to be a not so crafty attempt to avoid the inquistion. . .oops. . investigation. From what I learned, shingles is a pretty painful, blistering rash that generally could take weeks to heal. Generally, individuals with severe cases of this ailment may need a prescription for either Percocet or Loratab for pain management. However, this will leave the person confined to the home because, as we know, one definately should not be driving or attending school function under the influnence of a sedative. So, what I guess I'm trying to say is this. . if a person cannot attend work, they definately cannot attend other functions; if they're in that much pain. WTBS. I hope all is well because I want her to be aware and cognizant of what's taking place and we definatley don't need an illness delaying the investigative

Bluffing Game. . Lumberton Style

It seems that our city is sitting at the table of a legal pissing match. The un-offical city attorney, Lindsey Carter is up against Kim Chaze, attorney for city clerk, Stephanie C. Mullings. Carter became well known after his case for the Dahmer trail received national attention. Chaze is moslty known for his lawsuits against USM, and most recently, his case against the City of Hattieburg, when Judge Vanessa Jones tried to play the race card and say her termination was racially motiviated. Needless to say, her Johnny Cochran/Kim Chaz approach to hold onto her position as a Hattiesbug municipal judge did not work. She was still terminated and replaced. Now, it seems that Chaz has the City of Lumberton cowering at his threats of leagal represenation since he has been retained by the city clerk. One thing is for certain, Chaz only has the word of his client and we know she's not telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I said it before and I will say it again, Carter does

Un-Clean Hands

Unfortunatley, I missed the special called meeting that was held the other night. It seems the board is looking to add yet another expense onto the citizens of the City of Lumberton. The meeting was held to hire Carolyn Lee to take over the duties of the city clerk. It seems that Carolyn turned down the job because of her husband's health issues. I think it might be more to the story than that, but that's what I heard. Now, this brings to question, why do they need hire someone to do the day to day work in the city clerk's office? If I'm not mistaken, Susan Guidry has been employed by the City of Lumberton for almost eight years. She should now how to do everything from operating a bulldozer to book-keeping. As a matter of fact, when they termiated the employment of Betty Speights, who actually attended training and was going through the certification process, they decided to keep Sue because she was there the longest. Betty had more certification, but they said Sue

Correction: Who's Running 2013?

Image
Last week, there was some misinformation about those running for mayor. Unfortunately, I was given some incorrect information. So, I went to City Hall to see the list for myself. It seems that all of the current elected officials have picked up their qualifying papers, sans Timothy Johnson. As of now, Timothy Johnson has not picked up any papers for re-election and he is not running for mayor. However, his father-in-law, Ben Winston, has filed qualifying papers to run for mayor. I don't know if he will actually go out an campaign or if he's just gonna go from pulpit to pulpit asking for votes. . . One thing's for certain, I hope he's not planning on dusting those old Help Ben Win campaign signs from the Lamar County District Supervisor's race. So far, the mayoral race includes Mayor Miriam R. Holder and Rev. Benjamin Winston. Bobby Gibson will be challenged by Cora Rogers, Kent Crider will be challenged by Fire Chief, Jerry Walters. Walters has said he will not a

Investigation in Progress

Image
Last night, after the special call meeting, the member of the Lumberton Board of Aldermen gave Mayor Holder the approval to hire an investigator and they will adhere to any of the recommendations he/she makes. It seems that the group of aldermen that had no problem terminating the employment of several police officers, clerks, and chief of police, need additional proof to terminate the employment of the city clerk, in an at will state. Although the board is comprised of men, it seems that the City of Lumberton has selected the only eunuchs in Lumberton to serve as their representatives. I found it ironic that on the night Scandal returned to the airwaves, the City of Lumberton was dealing with it's own version of Scandal. After deliberating for hours, the do nothing board, passed the buck once again. Either Stephanie has Olivia Pope representing her or she has a special envelope with the secrets of several elected officials. If the latter is the case, I would like to take this o

Embezzelment: The New Normal???

There has been news for the last few months about city clerk’s throughout South Mississippi being charged with embezzlement. Like many of you, I was wondering, when was an investigation going to be conducted about the allegations of missing funds at Lumberton’s City Hall. Well, I don’t know if an investigation was ever conducted, but there’s something amiss taking place at city hall. According to my sources, the city clerk, Stephanie C. Mullings, has been on medical leave and is scheduled to return on January 22, 2013. Another source has told me that the city attorney, Lindsey Carter, has instructed the Mayor and Board not to have any contact with the city clerk. Now, that leaves me to wonder, who is running city hall. I love Sue like a crazy, chain-smoking auntie, but everybody knows (in my Phadrea voice) she haven’t been to any training since the last board was in office. So, who’s doing the payroll, depositing the water bill payments, and putting together the packets for the bo

I was looking over some of the numbers from the past posts to see if people are logging on and despite the vast number of people in Lumberton that changed their internet settings, after realizing I installed a tracker on the site, people are still tuning in. For the record, everything posted on the blog is also posted on the Lumberton Informer Facebook page, but everything posted on the Lumberton Informer Facebook page is not posted on the blog. (FYI) As a country, we finally saw the end of Election 2012 that culminated in the re-election of President Obama. It was a seemingly never ending political battle. I was surprised at the number of people that showed their "true" colors during the election; well, not really. People like to hide behind their masks but thanks to Facebook, people really showed how they felt, on both sides of the political aisle; good, bad and indifferent. I was also surprised at the number of people that deleted facebook friends because of the politic

Thankful for a new year and a new opportunity to blog more in 2013. There are some that say I'm too negative and I should focus on the more positive things that are taking place in Lumberton and to that I say, show me the positive things in Lumberton and I would be more than happy to share them with the readers of this blog. We live in a culture where we cry wolf or try to label a person because they don't share the same beliefs we share. You may not like my point of view, but once you get past the fact that you're taking the things I say personally, you may be able to view the forest after all. For the record, there are some positive things happening in Lumberton. Soon, we will have another restaurant, Chinese Wok, the work has begun on the Senior Living Complex, Azalea Gardens and the Main Street Renovation project has been completed. Thankfully, this is an election year and hopefully, we will have a set of candidates that are willing to work together for the City of
