Chief Fortenberry Attends Meeting with Residents of Ward 3
Quincy Rogers, Alderman of Ward 3, hosted a Ward meeting for the residents of Ward 3.
Chief Adrian Fortenberry was on hand to address the concerns of the residents of Ward 3. Alderman Rogers stated that he was receiving so many calls about the police department and he felt that the person that was best suited to answer questions about the police department would be Chief Fortenberry.
There were questions about the harassment of the youth in the city, curfew ordinances, road-blocks, and lack of respect from the officers patrolling this city.
Chief Fortenberry addressed the questions that were presented, and many felt that he was willing to do what was necessary to help ease the tension that many feel regarding the Lumberton Police Department.
Chief Fortenberry stated that he will bring videos to the next meeting and encouraged the parents to bring their children to the next event so that they could see how police and citizens should interact with one another.
One solution to the problem is the parents need to grow up and be an example to these kids. And if your child broke the law, they just broke it. Teach the children that when you break the law, you have to pay a price.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that they better not move to Hattiesburg / Petal area. Youth get in trouble and parents expect police chief to get them out of trouble will not happen over there. People gathering up to complain about police doing their job wont happen either. Alderman conducting meetings because somebody complaing, and usually that somebody is in trouble with the law too, wont happen.
So if you think L'ton is so bad, then move your behind to the Bird, and you will soon know how good you had it.
Chief needs to repeat what you said Jonathan. If you are getting treated badly and harassed by the police, make sure you or someone record it on your cell phone. Record them harassing you about curfew, etc., (cameras have a date/time stamp). But you know why the accusers wont do this is cause it might prove them wrong. Why won't the policemen use cameras when they have to deal with all this? That's what Chief should bring to the meeting.
