MEMTA Awards 2011
I know that so much focus is placed on the "bad" things that take place in this area, but there were some "good" news that didn't get published. Recently, some devoted men with ties to this community were recognized by MEMTA (Mississippi Emergency Medical Technicians Association) for their service. Mitchell Bridges was honored as Paramedic of the Year and William Clark was honored as Dispatcher of the Year. The following was taken from the nomination form for Mitchell Bridges, Paramedic of the Year: "Mitchell is presently with ASAP Ambulance Service in Mississippi. Mitchell graduated from Pearl River Community College as a Paramedic. He obtained his National Registry as a Paramedic and started work in 1990 in EMS. Mitchell has served as a preceptor for numerous medics in the state as they completed their EMS training and has been viewed by many as the best in preparing medics for their job. He is active not only as a preceptor but serves as an instructor for CPR, First Responders, EMT Basics and Paramedics. Mitchell is always help out the elderly patients with his own money to buy food and household items and checks in on them to ensure they are ok. A trait that I feel is the sign of a true medic." Here are some things that was said about William Clark, Dispatcher of the Year: William has been employed as a dispatcher with ASAP Ambulance Service since 2007. William is paralyzed from the waist down as a result of a dirt bike incident in motor cross racing. He has not let this condition slow him down and choose the area of dispatching to fill his need for a job and to maintain his independence. William is viewed by the medics that he dispatches for as the BEST in Class. He has not let the disability slow him down but it provides the driving force to be the best for the medics that rely on him to properly dispatch their calls and provide the needed support for all emergencies that he handles. His is one that can be counted on to be at work when duty calls and only missed work once as a result of a hospital stay due to complications from the injury. He still enjoys hunting and fishing and come up with ways to help him achieve his love for the sports while being confined to a wheelchair." Congratulations and Keep up the good work. It's National EMS week. Let all your EMS personel know they matter.

Thank you Jonathan for some brighter light. Nobody deserves these awards more than these 2 guys. I am glad to have worked with Mitchell for 11 years and been friends for longer. And William well you just can't say enough about him. He don't let anything hold him back and always knew by the tone in our voice what was going on and if we didn't answer he was sending somebody to look for us. EMS is one big family. Thanks Mitchell & William for being great partners and friends
ReplyDeleteMitchell and William are very deserving of their awards. They work hard each day to ensure quality medical care and support is provided to the people of the community. Keep up the great job guys. I am proud of you.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Tony Lewis, he was the best thing to happen to the Lumberton Fire Department? I was so supportive of the fire department, but now they're just acting like a bunch of hillbilly goons. How do you list a volunteer job as your occupation?
ReplyDeleteTony Lewis taught me alot before he left the fire department. He's one of the reasons i became an EMT. How do a bunch of Hillbilly goons act anyway?
