Gibson Approved
There has been a lot said about the state of the City of Lumberton, but focusing on the problems may have left us blind to the solutions. For several months, I have focused on the improprieties in the accounting at city hall, the cancellation of employee's insurance and the lack of adherence to the water bill collection policy, but the focus should have been on those that allow this to happen. The City of Lumberton paid over $30,000 for an auditor's report and now they don't want to follow the recommendations of that costly audit. Why? Recently, the Lumberton Police Department has gone on the defensive against residents of this city. Why? Because that's what Bobby Gibson wanted. I've focused on the city clerk and everyone else, instead of placing the blame on those that are allowing all of these things to happen--the board of aldermen.
When Mayor Holder took a leave for medical issues, Adrien Fortenberry was the Chief of Police and we had a good police department. As soon as Mayor Holder entered the hospital, Bobby Gibson, Mayor Pro tempore, started having one special called meeting after another. Soon, he ordered the termination of Officer Franklin, Cassandra Fortenberry, Joshua Messna, Andrew Phillips and the resignation of the police clerk and other officers. Weeks after being appointed chief, the board finally informed the citizens and the media of their decision to promote Dennis Hobson to fill the position after Bobby Gibson asked the board to terminate the employment of Chief Fortenberry. Several people wanted to know who was responsible for all of the things happening and it's evident that Bobby Gibson was the puppet master and he made sure that everything that's taking place now was activated while Mayor Holder was out on medical leave. Now that you know, it's up to you to hold those "we" elected accountable for their actions. The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday, October 4, 2011 @ 6:00 p.m. Make plans to attend the next board meeting. Go and look narrowly upon Bobby Gibson, Kent Crider, Rebecca Hale and Timothy Johnson. It is only then you will see for yourself and ask are these the ones that shook the City of Lumberton; that made our city as a wilderness and sought to destroy it? It's time for them to know that we are serving them notice and they will be cast out like an abominable (despised) branch. (Isaiah 14:16-19)
