An Angry Byrd Creates a Taylor Made Rap Sheet
There is still talk about the fact that the Lumberton Board of Aldermen are planning on overriding Mayor Holder's veto and hiring Ryan Byrd as soon as the minutes are approved; despite the fact that he lost his certification. The deputy clerks were saddened by the mayoral veto, citing that Byrd has a family and that it's Christmas. Well, on the other side of the same coin, I just saw a criminal background check that was conducted on Valerie Taylor who, because of the actions of Timothy Ryan Byrd, lost her certification and two jobs. Plus, she has a family to care for; she also has bills to pay as well as Christmas presents to buy. Taylor lost her job after she and several others were arrested on the night of September 23, 2011. This was the night the newly organized, Bobby Gibson run police department followed the guidelines of the Bill of Rights for Black Citizens of Lumberton. On the night of September 23, 2011, Amendments II: "The right of any white person to apprehend a nigger will not be infringed", Amendment IV: " The fact that a black person has the nerve to ask a question is sufficient probable cause for him/her to be searched and seized", Amendment VII: "Whenever blacks are causing trouble or just going about normal activity on Myrick/North 10th Street, arresting any person of color at the scene of the crime is just as good as arresting the one actually guilty of the crime in question", and Amendment X:" A nigger who has no arrest record just hasn't been caught yet" were all being implemented on that fateful night.
As I perused over the list of charges that were contained on Taylor's background check, I was in a state of disbelief. Taylor has not been convicted of any crime, but she has endured the shame of going to jail, having to pay inflated fees to retrieve her car from the towing company, and now she's lost not one but two jobs because she felt that as a law-abiding citizen and as a mother she had the divine animal right to protect her own life and the life of her offspring. The background check stated that she was arrested with two counts of simple assault, possession of marijuana with intent to sale, and possession of marijuana in a moving vehicle. Taylor had to pay hundreds of dollars to get her car back and even more money to get out of jail. Taylor stated that another person has been charged found guilty of the charges that are listed on her background check, but since they were reported by the Lumberton Police Department, she must spend more money to have the items removed from her record. Again, Taylor has not been found guilty of any of these charges, but the fact that they are on her background check, resulted in the loss of employment and now she has no way of supporting her family, but we have clerks that are concerned about a police officer that lost his certification due to his lawlessness.
It's amazing that an assisted living facility conducts a more thorough background check than the City of Lumberton and the most dangerous piece of equipment at the nusring home is a rectal thermometer. Since Gibson and Johnson were elected to serve, the City of Lumberton has had a history of putting criminally minded individuals on the streets of Lumberton with a loaded handgun without doing a proper background check. I believe the police department has the ability to conduct a NCIC (National Crime Information Center) check as well as a Triple III (Interstate Identification Index) check. Why are these methods not being used?
More than likely, Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson will vote to override Mayor Holder's veto and keep Timothy Ryan Byrd on the payroll. It would behoove the community to show up at the next regularly scheduled board meeting to show them that they are not pleased with their actions. When Mayor Holder returned after Gibson alegedly signed the paperwork for Hobson to have her arrested for interference of justice, the board room was SRO (Standing Room Only) and that same crowd and more need to be present to see for themselves the actions of Gibson and Johnson when they vote to keep a non-certified police officer on the city's payroll.
People we must learn that this battle for just is not a microwave moment, we must be willing to take on the mind set of a slow cooker because it's going to take some time for us to bring about change. Stay focused and continue to attend the board meetings and for those of you that don't agree with the thing Jonathan says, then take his advice and come out and see for yourself.
ReplyDeleteToo much being pushed under the rug and it's been happening for years. Some blacks need to be locked up. Matter of fact its gonna happen now or later or they gonna end up in their graves. If the officers are gonna do their job they should do it right. Everything is not racism. Some blacks brings circumstances on themselves by the CHOICES THEY MAKE. All of this bickering back and forth should stop immediately. Can the town just work together. Everybody knew who was breaking in those houses in the past....the police so crooked they tell the culprits who told them. Now I am one who is definately PISSED.When I come through Lumberton it's gonna blow your mind.
ReplyDeleteSome blacks need to be locked up. Well for the same reasons stated in your comment, some whites need to be locked up. Let's not categorize every black person as a criminal and every white person as a saint. The town will work together when Main Street is patrolled the same way they patrol Myrick. I'm all for locking up criminals, period, but don't go and create criminal charges for someone just to make a point or a quota and don't contiue to focus on past events, like breaking in houses. The idiots that broke into the drug store and the parts store need to go to jail but since this is a small town and we also have access to technology, the crooks know where the police are located. How do you think vandals were able to pull off $200,000 in damages and materials at the old feed mill? Because everybody knows that the police are babysitting Myrick, looking for speeding tickets to write and grand larceny is taking place on the other side of town because it's not being patrolled. No, racism is not always the blame, but it is in this case.

Did you ever consider the fact that LPD did run a background check on Timothy Ryan Byrd and there wasn't anything in his background. No you just assume that you have it all figure out don't you. Could it possibly be that Timothy Ryan Byrd is not a criminal like you would like for everyone to believe? See you don't know the circumstances concerning his certification being cancelled and it really isn't any of your business. You go ahead and keep writing, you may get some of your readers to believe all your trash talk but the people that really know the truth will still stand behind Timothy Ryan Byrd. You just have a vindetta against him because he actually did his job and did it well. He didn't show favoritism to some that wanted him to because they thought by throwing the Mayor's name around, it would keep them from getting a ticket. He is a strong person and he can take whatever you can dish out. He will get his certification back. Just remember this Mr. Griffith,"You can't keep a good man down."
ReplyDeleteThis makes me afraid to even come home to visit my family, fear that i may be targeted for having out of state plates. This is sad that this is what my hometown has turned out to be. I miss the old days when I was growing up and the hold town raised the children ( beating your butt and then telling your parents when they saw you doing wrong), and this town (blacks/whites), tried to support what was best for Lumbeton, this seem to be lost.
ReplyDeleteJust because a person resigns before they're fired does not mean that they didn't do anything wrong. Byrd was aware that he was stripped of his certification before he came to Lumberton. The fact that he was put to work in Lumberton, with access to a badge and a gun, without certification is not only my business but the business of everyone in this city. As far a favortisim, just because the jerk wrote a ticket after scouring through law books for days to find something against me does not make him an admirable man or a strong person. I've parked that way for two years, everyone, including Hobson, observed how I parked. . so now you want us to belive that they were looking the other way because I know the Mayor. . bish please. . .Also, I can care less if he gets his certification restored, but he does not need to be working in Lumberton until he's re-certified. . . Now the police department is getting rid of tickets for Bobby Gibson's family, letting his relatives get away with assaulting another person while at their mother's house and giving them passes through the road blocks even after seeing them with an open beer in their right hand, but you want to make it look like I was getting kickbacks because of a ticket. . again. . bish please. . Gibson has relatives breaking all sorts of laws and the police department is looking the other way. . so I you're saying the Mayor kept me from getting a parking ticket, then what's the differnce when Gibson's family is getting away with speeding, drinking and driving, assault and making beer/liquor runs to Bogalusa?

ReplyDeleteI have all the information of who i have to call for Byrd working in Lumberton. If they override her veto I will be calling Jackson again to make sure he get fired. The only reason they want him to stay on is because they don't have a case on Valerie without him. Thats why they keep bring this up but beleive me its some people will be at the city hall on 12/28/11 and that a fact. If he gets the job Purvis is going to have to step up. When Bobby Gibson child got a ticket it was thrown out but when everybody else get ticket you get one they have to see the probation officer till its paid off. Then you got the dumbest person for alderman at large who can't read he have Tim Johnson reading for him because he can't pronounce the word. Yea he graduated but everybody that attend school back in that time got a diploma. Lumberton don't have to worry he want be back up their this his last term along with the other 3 that dumb as hell.
ReplyDeleteI said I was never going to return to this blog again but was asked to read something on it. I am appalled at the use of the "N" word whether it be used by whites or blacks. I always wondered what your agenda was Jonathon! It is clear to me now and I am angry that you would use the Bible verses you use when it is apparent that your agenda is to keep Lumberton racially divided. You need to apologize to your own race for loosely using the "N" word. How can your own people criticize it when white people use it when your own people use it so loosely???? If this was a white person using the term this blog would be shut down so fast it would make your head swim. I am a Christian and I have never, ever seen anywhere in the Bible where the Lord wants people to incite hate! It teaches to LOVE!!!!! It also warns of wolves in sheeps clothing and you my friend I consider one of them. Let the sheepies continue to read your blog and keep Lumberton divided. Let them follow you straight to hades for hating. All the Christians should be angry and put you in your place. If you are trying to help Lumberton, you would be part of the solution, not part of the problem. All I have seen here is "white" this and "white" that. I challenged you to join the fire dept. as you make it seem that Blacks cannot be on the fire dept......I liked to have had my house burn down the other night and I will be the first one to tell you, I do not care what color comes to my house to put out the fire......they can be purple, pink polka dotted for all I care. These people were out in the rain and there was only a handful who volunteer. I highly commend them. I will not be back to see what is posted on here no matter what anyone asks me. I'm sure he knows the difference between nigger and nigga, and as a black man, he's has the right to say it. And for someone to look around and think that there's not a race issue in Lumberton is either delusional or on drugs. Yes it's white this and white that until we have more blacks working at city hall and not just hanging off the back of a garbage truck or digging a ditch. We have one black person working in an office setting on Main Street and apparently you feel that is fine and it's amazing that whenever a person has views contrary to your, they're doing the work of the devil, you sound like the Sadducches because you're sad, you see. And last time I checked, you don't have a heaven or hell to send anyone to and I love how you encouraged your fellow haters to put Jonathan in his place. ReplyDeleteAnd what would give you the indication that I hate cops? For the most part, I have only blogged about one or two police officers and whenever I have something positive to say about any LPD officer they seem to get fired. I'm not a lump them type of person, I deal with people on a one on one basis. There are some honorable cops working for Lumberton and there are some dishonorable cops working for Lumberton. I just don't understand how does everyone in Lumberton know who's selling drugs(prescription and other wise) but the LPD seems clueless. It seems that they would spend less time on writing tickets and towing cars which is only making money for the State of Mississippi and the local tow guy (and I'm certain that the cops are not making rotation calls b/c their purpose of having cars towed is to inflict an even heavier finacical burden on the citizens of Lumberton--otherwise, why would you call a local person for every tow that will charge anywhere from $200-300/tow but Watt's will come from Purvis and charge $75/tow). . back to what I was saying. . .Everyone knows the area drug dealers, well, everyone except the LPD. .and most other police departments are getting their extra funding to buy more police cars and hire additional police officers from drug busts. . So, next time you're behind a Purvis police car or Hattiesburg Police car, look at the bumper where it states this car was paid for with seized assets. . You won't find those in Lumberton, but the money they've made for a towing company could have been used to offset their out of whack police department budget. But sorry that you took my comments as hatred towards the police department. I'm not a hateful person, I leave that to people like Cindy Lenoir and Jerry Walters.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the towing. I think there's a differnt price for differnt people. I was so thankful that I didn't have to pay anything when my car was towed and it had nothing to do with my skin color. I think it's a police department issue. Maybe you could do an impromptu study at the next court date and find out how many blacks with suspended driver's licenses were towed compared to the number of white driver's with suspended licences were towed. Of course there will be those that will claim you finagled the numbers, but at least you can give us some sort of indication as to any disparities that may be taking place in the police department regarding their choices to have cars towed.
ReplyDeleteJonathan, I think you should be able to get Byrd's information from the certification board through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). You will be responsible for the cost of the paperwork up to $25 and you will have the reason behind the loss of his certification and the date he was notified of the loss of his certification. You will need to fill out Form G-639 and I will e-mail you the link. I hope this was helpful and I know you will share your findings.

I read the blog and I'm Cindy's facebook friend and I don't remember you calling thefire department racist. It's another case of reading and comprehension. I remember you saying the fire depart is all wwhite, but they read and hear what they want to hear, but the saggy-bottom heifer showed her true colors when she was saying she missed her old Lumberton and I know what she ment by that b/c she got the thumbs up from the Confederate Queens Karen Brown and Tammy Hinson. ReplyDeleteI've heard probably the same things you've heard, but I don't know how it relates to this blog. If this person is getting tickets fixed or triple teaming folks and not getting arrested, then it becomes news, but for the moment, it's just vicious gossip and I'm really not interested in following up on this story.
