Shady Boots
Undoubtedly, almost everyone in the City of Lumberton knows about the meelee that took place on Myrick Avenue yesterday. I was not part of the fight, but once again, the simpletons of Lumberton has manged to try to ascribe blame to me because I choose to post the picture you are seeing on my Instagram page. Now, I was told that I was trying to stir up the Lumberton/Purvis beef again. For those of you that are not aware of this conflict, it's the black folks version of the Hatfields and McCoys. It seems that no one knows how it started and it just seems to go on for generation after generation. I never got involved in the Lumberton vs. Purvis conflict because a lot of my friends and family are from Purvis. As a matter of fact, before my parents separated, I lived in Purvis. Therefore, it was quite diffucult for me to have beef, imagined or otherwise, with people I grew up with. Now, how I was blamed for the Annual Kick Off of the Lumberton Hoodie Fight Season, I don't know but I feel that the person that attempted to lash out at me was upset about something other than this picuture. At first, it seemed like a deja vu moment, I was like didn't another one of his relatives try to say the same thing when I posted the info about the owner of the China Wok allegedly cutting his wife. Wow. .talk about your ground hog day moments.
Now, I don't know if this was an issue with Purvis vs. Lumberton but the fact that there were fights/arugments between indivuduals from Purvis and Lumberton. .well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I heard the fight as it ensued, but I thought to myself, it will pass. Contrary to what my normal reaction, I didn't bother to call the police because I knew the native would settle down. .eventually. Well, after 30 mintues of a lot of yelling and pent up frustrations, it seems that people just started swinging on people they wanted to fight long before this glorius, sunny day. For instance, one female was trying to break up the fight and another female just started throwing blows. Where they do that at? The rest of the county looks to Poxotanny Phil to see if we're going to have a long winter but according to the mayheim on Myrick, it looks like we're going to have a long, hot summer. Now, everybody knows how I feel about Hobson, but during moments like yesterday, I longed for Hobson and his crew of rogue officers. Whatever your thoughts may be about the LPD, Cheif Elsie Cowarts, cumbay, Michael row the boat ashore, form of policing is not going to work in this area of Lumberton.
Those are just some points I wanted to make but the real reason for this post is the large number of "church folk" that were out and about looking and lurking to see the barbarism that was on full display. Before I delve deeper into this subject, I received a call from someone and they were asking me who was fighting and I honestly did not know the indivuduals that were fighting and/or aruging. I told this person that I really can't tell the difference within this crowd and I was told that I was lying. Well, I didn't get upset but the truth of the matter is, ignorance, regardless of race, color, religion and/or national origin looks the same. WTBS, let me get back to my post/sermon.
With all the so-called Christian folks running to the area like they had tickets to the WWE, I'm the one that's being called out because I posted a picuture. Seriously. There were cell phone cameras out everywhere and I'm quite sure they were either watching them all night or looking for a way to upload them to YouTube or World Star Hip Hop. But I'm the one that's to blame bc of a simple picture. Now, I'm not upset about the fact that I was challenged about posting the picture to IG, I'm upset bc I was sitting there with my cell phone in my hand and forgot to video tape the events. Not to sound self-righteous, but as I scanned through the crowds, I still was surpised by the holy rollers that were flocking to the scene. Now, Proverbs 6:16-19 give an outline of things God hates and one is "feet that be swift in running to mischief." I know the it says that we shold not add or take away from the word, but I would like to add, driving to the scene would be also considered a running to mischief. Now you don't have to say amen, but can I get an alright now. You know, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I remember saying once before at least, that if God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, he should not be hard to figure out.
This morning it is feet that are swift in running to mischief. Who doesn’t know what “foot” means? I looked and found that it is the lower part of the leg below the ankle. It is also the measurement. It is also the lowest part of any thing. It is also the way of life, manner of life, movement to do certain things. Mischief is a troublesome behavior; it is also a large or disorderly crowd. It is also wrongheadedness. Keep that in mind. Having a foot that is swift in running to mischief is having a way of life that is swift to watch, to run toward wrongheadedness and troublesome behavior.
You know in Exodus, we saw the practices of public punishment and public execution. The crucifixion started because they wanted to make the punishment as cruel as possible, so that everyone could look and be afraid of doing the same thing. There are some places where they still do this today, and believe me, it works! Once you get an opportunity to think, then you would probably make a decision that, at least, you had taken the time to think about it.
Thoughtlessness is another name for sin. The real problem is presumption. We don’t think, but we presume, and that’s where the problem starts. I don’t have to look too deep to find that; the problem is in my own life. We don’t stop to think; we just do something, and the problem starts. We allow our instant to rule over us. We are being led by our own lusts. That’s how we run into mischief. Our manner of life is just “Go!” Thoughtlessness and presumption is a great wickedness. So, in closing, don't try to ascribe a certain trait to me because you are dissatisfied with your actions. I did not start the fight and I have the wherewithal to know, that I don't need my fist to strike a blow. So for those of you that were entertained on yesterday, know that on Monday morning, some people are going to be starting the process of looking for a place to live. Are those same on-lookers going to come to their aide. I don't think so. But they made their bed and now they must deal with the consequences of their actions. When they're faced with eviction, they can then reflect and determine if it was worth it. Unfortunately, there are people that don't think, they just react. With all the talk about how the new manager is working with people and trying to make a difference, well, there's another side of that coin. Come Monday morning, he's either gonna have to start the process of eviction or MRHA 8 will bring someone in that will start the process of eviction. I don't mind being blamed for what I say or post, I've come to expect it. As a matter of fact, there were somet that asked if I thought my outspokeness would be a factor in the upcoming election and I said I truly did not know.
The City of Lumberton is a very precarious place and the fact that I call a thing a thing may be an advantage or a hinderance, only time will tell. I have lost focus several times when posting on this blog but I will not lose focus on this issue. I have grown and I realize that all attacks are not personal. Sometimes, people allow things they've heard their friends/family say manifest and they look for any outlet to finally say what they've been absorbing. I know there are people that love to try but I see their slickness. I've moved on from being shady. If you can't handle me calling a thing a thing, I suggest you either unfriend or unfollow me. Just because I've grown, doesn't mean I've stopped being me. I will still read the ish out of you and hold no grudges when I'm done. Unfortunately, those that cast the most shade are usally the ones that can't handle exposure. To all the saints and aint's, try to enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
