National Day of Prayer
Today has been designated as the National Day of Prayer. Generally, the LEDC would host a community event at the Ben Barrett Community Center, but I haven't seen any signs indicating their intent to do so this year. If they are planning an event, I think I will attend to see who will be omitted from their prayers this year. Last year, they refused to pray for President Obamba. Regardless of what your political views may be, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 instructs us to pray for those in authority. It reads as follows: "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.(NIV)" So, that mean we must pray for President Obamba, Governer Barbor (who refused $50 million dollars in stimuls money which has led to a budget crisis and will result in drastic cuts in education), and we must pray for Mayor Miriam Holder and the members of the Board of Alderpersons. Hopefully, those organizing this year's event will get it right this time. Prayer is not a place for politics.
