Frank Lee My Dear. . .
On April 11, 2011, News 7 aired a segment with Adrien Fortenberry, Chief of Police for the City of Lumberton. The piece was supposed to highlight the chief's displeasure with Lumberton's spike in crime, but those that watched the news report would think that the only crime that's being committed in the City of Lumberton is taking place on the corner of Myrick and North 10th Street. Some feel that the news story was an explotation piece, but what did you expect? Whenever you mix Ghett-ontario Richardson and the City of Lumberton, you're gonna get a mess. If you see Ghett-ontario Richardson, rest assured that seven is not on your side. But I can't completely blame News 7 for the story that aired because there was no shortage of individuals that wanted to shuck and jive for the news camera. There is always something going on around Myrick and North 10th Street. When I look at the corners, I see big, red stop signs, but apparently the masses see an engraved plaque of "The New Colossus": give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Maybe the City of Lumberton should find a way to install a toll booth on Myrick Avenue. With the seemingly endless amount of traffic, I'm certain that the city will have a large amount of revenue in no time. Soon we will see if Chief Fortenberry will be able to bring order to the chaos that's taking place in Lumberton. In case you missed the story that aired on News 7, Chief Fortenberry wanted to inform the residents of Lumberton that crime is on the rise, the curfew ordinance will be enforced and loitering will not be tolerated. The interview aired over a week ago and I haven't seen any significant changes, but the upcoming Easter weekend will let all the citizens of Lumberton know if this was a real call to action or just another sound bite. WTBS: I wonder if there is any correlation with the cut in police officer's pay and the rise in crime.
Didn't they have an open house the other week at them apartments? They said they invested millions into the remodeling but how much is in the budget for security?
ReplyDeleteOn any given day, when you travel down Myrick Avenue you're gonna see drinking, cussing, fighting, gambling, parked cars with doors open and loud music blasting and that's just the one's that go to church add the uncirmucised heathens to the mixture and you have a freak show. There are 4-6 homeowners that live across the streets from the projects and I wonder how many of them are calling the police to deal with all the mess that goes on in that area?
