Lumberton Ganstas or Wankstas???

I have been on the LPD for one thing or another, but it seems that there are some that are not satisfied unless a cop has his foot on their neck. In case you haven't heard, the streets were crawling this weekend and when I say streets, I mean Myrick Avenue and North 10th Street. Someone was bold enough to get into a parked police car and turn on the siren. Now I've briefly mentioned those suffering from empty wagon syndrome, but that just took the cake. I have blogged about the LPD especially after Hobson took over. I mentioned the diparties in the areas they patrolled, but it seems that those that like to hang out in the wee hours of the night have realized that the police are not patrolling in their area; which led to someone being bold enough to get into a patrol car and turn on the blue lights or whatever the case may be. I don't know why the police are not patrolling as much as they did in the past; maybe they're actually short-handed or they're plotting something else. But it's hard for me to believe they're short-handed when I saw at least 5 police officer, in and out of uniform, roll up on this woman's apartment after her daughter allegedly had a crack pipe in her book bag. Now, this woman is definitely not a flight risk and if she did run, I think even Lumberton cops would have been able to catch her. For some reason, there's plenty of officers on during the day, but when darkness falls, there's hardly any officers patrolling the City of Lumberton and the night-hawks know this.
It seems that Frank Lee Homes is their hub or destination and if this matter is not addressed now, it's going to be a long, hot summer. When the new crew came on board, they wanted to make a name for themselves. Therefore, they started with all the harassment, road blocks, and excessive force and abuse of power. They wanted to establish a presence and try and prove that there was a lot of criminal elements in the community that was being overlooked by Chief Fortenberry, but in the process, they've only managed to get themselves labeled as a bunch of douches. If someone is breaking the law, then they should be dealt with accordingly, but I'm not talking about a bunch of Barney's sitting around looking through old law books and trying to enforce pre-Jim Crow laws. The City of Lumberton has a curfew law and those parents that are upset about the laws should have attended the board meetings to voice their opinions then and not now when it's sporadically enforced. I don't have a problem with people hanging out, but I do have a problem when hanging out creates more noise that the game between LSU and Alabama State at the Superdome. Why can't they party with dignity? Why can't they gather without acting like they're at a championship game especially when they're standing in front of or next to someone place of residence? Why can't they hold a conversation with the person standing next to them without screaming?
I don't know the answer to these questions, but I know one thing's for certain, they've drawn more attention to themselves than Frank Lucas wearing the chinchilla fur hat and coat to the Frazier-Ali fight. . so when the police actually start doing their jobs and clearing the streets. . don't complain because you brought it on yourselves.
