On Wednesday, March 16, 2011, I included the following comment in a blog post about Dennis Hobson: “Is there any truth to the rumor that Kent Crider, Bobby Gibson, Timothy Johnson and Rebecca Hale promised Dennis Hobson that they would make him Lumberton’s next Chief of Police? According to the information I received, Hobson was allegedly told to hang in there, keep doing what we want you to do (including turning the other way when our family is involved) and you are a sure shot for the chief position.” Well, last night, their promise came to fruition. Chief Fortenberry went into executive session and after he left, Crider and Hale made the motion to appoint Dennis “The Menace” Hobson as Interim Chief of Police. According to the stament made by Mayor Protempore, Bobby Gibson, Chief Fortenberry was going to a training session in Biloxi, MS and he would be taking some vacation time to get ready for the election. Gibson also stated that the board decided that Hobson would serve as Chief during Chief Fortenberry’s absence. Now how did the board of aldermen, (Hale, Crider and Johnson), make that decision? I thought the board of aldermen could not interfere in the day to day operations of any department, and it seems to me that they’re interfering with the duties and responsibilities of Chief Fortenberry. Until the resignation of Chief Fortenberry is official, any decisions made by Chief Fortenberry should stand. If Chief Fortenberry didn’t leave Hobson in charge of the Lumberton Police Department, then Lumberton Board of Aldermen do not have the authority to decide who will serve as chief while Chief Fortenberry is on leave. But since this board has broken so many laws since taking their oath of office, I guess they feel that breaking one more law wouldn’t hurt. I told the readers of this blog back in March that this board was trying to get rid of Chief Fortenberry so they could replace him with Hobson. You don’t have to take my word for it, just click on the Blog Archives for March and you can read it for yourself. I already thought this board was lower than the belly of a snake, but they have so much disregard for the citizens of this city that they would appoint Hobson as Interim Chief. For the record, Hobson had to leave his job in Meridian because of all the news attention from the domestic assault and domestic violence charges. (I guess he’s not going to want to allow the police officers to work with the KeKe B Foundation.) When Hobson came to Lumberton, the first thing he did was to lie on his job application. The first question on the Lumberton Police asks have you been charged or convicted of a crime and his answer was “no.” So, are all the reports coming from Meridian false, and if they’re not true, why didn’t the Meridian Star or WTOK News Center 11 print a retraction of their stories on Darren Dennis Hobson? Even after he was hired by the Lumberton Police Department, his old habits found a way of emerging? Before I filed a complaint against Hobson, he allegedly threatened several black males and nothing was done. People say that race shouldn’t matter, but the importance of our stories is categorized based on our race. Recently, there was news frenzy about white guy that was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer. It was all over News 7, Hattiesburg American and it’s still a hot topic for the Board of Aldermen meetings, but when a law abiding, black male is threatened by a white officer, it’s common place and swept under the rug with the label “business as usual.” I don’t vote along political lines and I don’t vote along racial lines, but I don’t know what would cause a black alderman (Timothy Johnson) to support a racist, ill-tempered, self-indulgent, self-absorbant, non-professional like Hobson. But this is the type of man they (Crider, Gibson, Hale and Johnson) want in charge of the Lumberton Police Department.

    I guess it pays off to play hide the nightstick with a fat chick. But hey let's look on the bright side, I betcha that the police will get their hours approved for their certification, I betcha the board won't be looking at the fuel man accounts anymore and I betcha only one officer will get a pay raise and that will be Hobson. Just watch and see. Here's a tip for the fire department, you better start cuddling up with that money cow that works at city hall, if you get on one of her good udders, you can increase your budget. It's working for everyone else, why not give it a try.

    A christian would not allow such vulgar and degrading comments to be posted. You do have control over what is posted so think about what you are allowing people to do to the character of a person.

I called this post the pills and potions edition because after looking at the budget that was presented; it's obvious this board is overdosing on something. I can't tell where any real cuts were made to the budget; it seems the same. The fact that the board paid Richard Rose $1, 600 to prepare this budget is a joke. Why do we have a city clerk if she cannot prepare a budget? What is she doing all day other than reading the Lumberton Informer or thinking of her next lie? The board claimed that Richard Rose was doing this out of the goodness of his heart, that he knew the City of Lumberton was not in a position to pay him. So, rather than charging the normal going rate for an embattled city manager that was allegedly terminated for not reporting to work and other matters; Rose decided he will charge the fiscally challenged City of Lumberton a mere $1,600 and a motorcycle. Stealing Elections: Lumberton Style

Last night when I went to the Ben Barrett Voting Center to watch the counting of the vote, I entered the building about 10 minutes before the polls closed and the picture above is what I saw. Throughout the day, many people expressed their concerns that the poll workers didn't match the demographics of the City of Lumberton. I shrugged it off after someone texted me, assuring me that the election was going to be fair. Well, that was not the case. Later in the day, a voter came to me with evidence that the votes had been compromised. They gave me two torn affidavit ballots that were torn up and thrown in the trash in the women's restroom at the voting center. Interesting. There was another person that came to me about the conversation they overheard between Cora Rogers and her mother, Voncile Richardson. It seems that Ms. Voncile wanted to cast a vote for me but her daughter, Cora Rogers, instructed her to mark the ballot for Kent Crider. Interesting. Last

Kim Rogers: A Phenomenal Woman

I've always said that I don't offer balance throughout this blog. It seems that most of the focus is placed on the bad things or more gossipy topics, but I think today is a good day to give credit where credit is due. I know she don't do what she do for attention or accolades but I would like to tip my hat to Mrs. Kim Rogers, founder of the KeKe B Foundation. Kim, like many other women of our community, is a testament to the power of hop, courage and resilience of a loving mother. I don't know how she does it but she has chosen to take a stand when others would have buckled under pressure. Her dedication and courage has touched so many people in so many ways. The work she's doing through the KeKe B Foundation will be a beacon for many generations to come and the she many never realize the impact her courage has made in the lives of others.
