Selective Amnesia: Carter Style

Tuesday night, city attorney, Lindsey Carter, felt the need to defend the board. He said "the board has done what they could in a bad situation. They did not know what was going on and everyone from the auditor to the clerk was saying that everything was fine. Everytime they [board of aldermen] make a decision, they're faced with an EEOC charge." Really Lindsey, you took this moment to try and defend those that should not be defended. I was going to correct him on his half-truths, but I felt I would have been preaching to the choir. But now that I have your attention, I would like to go on record saying, that the statment made by Lindsey Carter is an unequivicoal lie. The board did know what was going on and they refused to do anything because allowing Stephanie to go unchecked was a blatant disregard for the superintending authority of Mayor Holder and this board did every thing they possibly could to tie Mayor Holder's hands. I guess I can't blame Lindsey, after all, he is a lie-awyer and they're basically paid to twist the truth, but thankfully, there's a record of these lies or as lawyers like to call them, half-truths. Lindsey said the board did not know about the malfeasance that was taking place right under their noses. Seriously. Month after month after month, Mayor Holder asked for a system of checks and balances and time after time, after time, after time, her plea was not heard. On several occassions, it was brought to the attention of the board that something in the buttermilk ain't right (in my Phaedra from the RHOA voice). So, let me refresh the memory of those that are now suffering from selective amnesia. Kent Crider, Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson are sitting on the board trying to act like their acts of defiance have not caused a giant rift in this city. If you recall, Paige from Nicholson and Company presented the report from the city's audit. I made a big to do about the $87,652.35 that was missing from the city's accounts. Bobby Gibson and Kent Crider demanded that the auditor tell the public that the money was not missing. So, Paige/Page (not certain of the spelling of her name) did what her bosses ordered and said that the deficit was normal. Now, her mouth was saying one thing, but the report was telling another story. For the record, on page 26, paragraph J in the auditor's report, the deficit was outlined, the need for checks and balances was outlined, the non-compliance of the clerk was outlined and this board tried to sweep it under the table. They hated that this information was presented to the public and as a matter of fact, Bobby Gibson and Kent Crider allegedly instructed Stephanie C. Mullings to refuse to present me with one of the extra copies of the auditor's report. They allegedly told her to make me pay for the information if I wanted to see the report. So, in order to get a copy, the cash cow charged me $45 for research and copies in order to see the report, despite the fact that Paige/Page gave her extra copies for citizens to review. Now, she managed to give a copy to Kathleen, but she knew Bogle wasn't really going to question the findings of the report. If you're still not convinced that the board knew, how about the time when all the citizens were in an uproar about the water bills and the discover/allegations that certain members of Mullings family were getting free water services. As a matter of fact, Timothy Johnson said he would personally investigate the matter and report back to the citizens. Well, he's either still investigating the matter or there were no plans of us ever getting a report. Another incident that led to more questions about where's the money happened when several officers discovered they did not have insurance coverage. The money was being deducted from their checks but somehow their insurance lapsed. If memory serves me correctly, the officers presented this information to the board. I guess Lindsey was absent on that day as well. Finally, if you're still not convinced the board knew about the improprities that were taking place at city hall, then what about the certified letter that was mailed to each of the members on the board by a city employee. The letter allegedly outlined the various forms of theft that was taking place at city hall including but not limited to comp time and petty cash. I guess the board members forgot they signed for that letter or thought no one else knew about the letters. There was also this incident where a working mother was arrested because she was not getting her child support. By the way, everyone that reported these issues were either terminated or jailed with the approval of this board. I guess since the people that were involved were terminated, Gibson, Crider and Johnson thought the dirt they tried to sweep under the rug would be forgotten. Well, guess again. This board knew damn well what was going on and every crime allegedly perpertrated by the city clerk received their seal of approval. They stood with her, approved unnecessary training (at the expense of the citizens) and even promoted those they thought could silence this blog, but the truth does not need a prop. So, if the Stephens (yeah that's a Dhjango reference think their sins have been forgotten, well think again. I'm not Lindsey Carter and I'm not groveling to stay on payroll, so I'm not in a position where I need to defend the actions of the wicked. And for the record, I'm not Dhjango, but my name is Jonathan Fitzgerald Williams-Griffith and this G ain't silent.
