No Crystal Ball Required

I don't need a crystal ball to tell you how things are going to play out at tonight's board meeting. I, along with several other disgruntled citizens of Lumberton, will probably be threatened with expulsion from the meeting. For those that think I don't know what I'm talking about, here are a few predictions about what's going to take place tonight. Alderman Johnson wants to disband the Lumberton Planning and Zoning Committee and the vote will be as follows: Crider, Gibson and Johnson will vote to disband the committee although there are no provisions to disband a committee, but there is a provision to remove individual members from the committee if there is just cause and that cause must be presented to the city clerk, in writing, and a public hearing held, but this process must be completed within 15 days of the grievance. Another agenda item presented by Alderman Johnson is to suspend the Planning and Zoning Ordinance until new Planning and Zoning Committe can review it. Well, if the board goes against the legal advice of the City Attorney, and vote to disband the LPZC, then they will proceed to end all ordinances, which will mean that there will be no guidelines in place for anything in the City of Lumberton, and of course, those in favor of this are Crider, Gibson, and Johnson. (Things that make you go hummmmmmmm.) It a no-brainer that Crider, Gibson, and Johnson will not vote to enter into the minutes the new guidelines for the LPZC, but their vote will not hinder the process because the ordinance states that the planning and zoning committe shall adopt rules necessary to the conduct of its affairs and that they are required to file any changes with the City Clerk. And if all goes as I predict, Crider, Gibson, and Johnson will vote against establishing a stipend for the members of the LPZC. These are my predictions for what will take place on tonight, but I have been accused of making false statements and only giving my opinions. So, come out to tonight's board meeting as see how close my predictions are.
