Check Mate: The Bishop's Next Move

In case you missed the news, here are some things you might have missed. At a special called meeting held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, Rebecca Hale, Kent Crider and Quincy Rogers voted to rescind the hiring of Timothy Ryan Byrd as court administrator. At the same meeting, Kent Crider and Rebecca Hale voted to raise the water rates; Alderman Rogers voted against the water rate increase. Absent from the meeting was Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson; they now have the ability to say that they didn't vote to raise the water rates when they're questioned by voters, but I think the reason they didn't attend the meeting was their unwillingness to rescind the order to hire Byrd. I don't understand why Hale and Crider would vote to increase the water rate and they know there are some serious issues in the water department. Instead of fixing the problem, they're passing the cost on to the citizens of Lumberton and still refusing to address the serious concerns regarding billing and selective shut-offs that's taking place.
On January 2, 2012, Bishop Miles Smith had scheduled a meeting that was to be held at the Cooper Building, but that meeting did not take place. After arriving on the scene, Smith and his team were allowed entry into the building, but everyone else was told that they were on private property and if they didn't leave they would be charged with trespassing. It's still unclear what was going on; Walters and his crew were on hand to provide security per the request of Smith and the meeting was later held at the old Movie Star Building. The first board meeting of 2012 is scheduled for January 3, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

    What happened with his venture up at the Old movie star building? It seems as it there are still so many unanswered questions on this whole matter.

    Your guess is just as good as mine. . I don't know what happened with the Old Movie Star Building and there are still a lot of questions. What happenedto all the job applications, the training school, etc.? I guess he'll answer those questions on January 2, 2012.

    we can hope.. I would like to see alot of questions answered before the city allows him to do this again. there were alot of men and women up at the old movie star that day putting in job applications. These men and women needed a job and it was bringing hope. Then all that happened.. There has been alot of talk that it was all a misunderstanding that they could not find anything on him.. If that be the case then why has that not been said all over the News and such.

    Thats the truth. You can contact them for a positive feel good story about someone doing good and noone shows up to cover the story. That is a shame. All they want to show is the bad stuff that happens.

He is very manipulative and preys on young women just to get money out of them and tries to convince them to breakup with their spouses and even downs his own ppl of color!     He needs to pay the people that were working for him before. The U.S.Marshalls and Lumberton Police came and got him. He still owes money to Mr. Jerry at Napa. They need to run the so called Bishop out of town. I have never heard a Bishop use the 4 letter words he used one day at the hotel in Hillsdale, it was F this and F that.

    This dirt bag contracted me to repair two vehicles for me. He abandoned them after I completed the work and he owes me 5500. dollars.. You can tell when this person is lying, just watch his lips moving. His business ethics and character are pathetic.. Avoid this person at all cost ! He is a CROOK !!!

I called this post the pills and potions edition because after looking at the budget that was presented; it's obvious this board is overdosing on something. Stealing Elections: Lumberton Style

Last night when I went to the Ben Barrett Voting Center to watch the counting of the vote, I entered the building about 10 minutes before the polls closed and the picture above is what I saw. Throughout the day, many people expressed their concerns that the poll workers didn't match the demographics of the City of Lumberton. I shrugged it off after someone texted me, assuring me that the election was going to be fair. Well, that was not the case. Later in the day, a voter came to me with evidence that the votes had been compromised. They gave me two torn affidavit ballots that were torn up and thrown in the trash in the women's restroom at the voting center. Interesting. There was another person that came to me about the conversation they overheard between Cora Rogers and her mother, Voncile Richardson. Kim Rogers: A Phenomenal Woman

I've always said that I don't offer balance throughout this blog. It seems that most of the focus is placed on the bad things or more gossipy topics, but I think today is a good day to give credit where credit is due. I know she don't do what she do for attention or accolades but I would like to tip my hat to Mrs. Kim Rogers, founder of the KeKe B Foundation. Kim, like many other women of our community, is a testament to the power of hop, courage and resilience of a loving mother. I don't know how she does it but she has chosen to take a stand when others would have buckled under pressure. Her dedication and courage has touched so many people in so many ways. The work she's doing through the KeKe B Foundation will be a beacon for many generations to come and the she many never realize the impact her courage has made in the lives of others.
