Now What Now?
I try to use correct grammar when posting on this blog, but when I found out how much revenue the City of Lumberton is receiving from the Lumberton Airport, I had a Tasha Mack moment. I was looking for a positive story to close out the week, and I thought about my last visit to the Lumberton airport. I noticed all the cars (most of the cars were from out of state: Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky, etc.) the amount of people there, the different concessions stands/eateries, and just an overall festive atmosphere. I never realized that sky-diving was such a lucrative business. There were people everywhere, there were several trailers ( I don't know if the trailers are for staffers or customers), gear sales, the canopy cafe, some jewelry was being sold, another food station, and much much more. Yesterday, I called city hall to ask our city clerk about the amount of rent the city of Lumberton is receiving from Gold Coast Skydivers, and she told me that they pay $100 a year for a lease on the building. I thought I was hearing things, and my first response was Tasha Mack's favorite line: Now what now? She repeated her statement saying that the City of Lumberton is receiving $1/year for the leasing of the airport.
Now, I saw a number of trailers that are apparently being used for housing (to hook up a camper trailer at Little Black Creek would cost about $250.00/month, but I was told that we are not charging for trailers, it was included in the contract), the gold cost web site list at least 25 employees (everybody from instructors, gear salesmen, videographers, packers and instructors), the site also states that the prices for jumps are from $179-$189/per jump. And there's a crowd every weekend. But I was also told that the owner built all the blue buildings at his own expense and once the contract expires, the building will belong to the City of Lumberton. So, when the contract ends, it is my hope that those representing the City of Lumberton will negotiate a much better contract with the Gold Coast Skydivers. In the meantime, more people need to visit the Lumberton airport b/c I feel that it's going to be a great source of revenue for the City of Lumberton.
That is just a front! Those folk been dropping drugs at that lil airport in Lumberton for years......THAT SKY DIVING MESS IS JUST A FRONT!!!Look at the tags you saw...FLORIDA-LOUISIANA......dead give away!

I know this don't go with this story, but I just wanted to take a moment to say that Sue should feel soooo stupid right about now. She's been doing all that lying and everything to cover Stephanie's ass (and that's a lot of ass to cover) and her dumb ass had her pay cut to $7.25 and hour while Stephanie's pay wasn't cut and I heard she got a raise b/c she has to cover Melissa's job. I guess you guys really thought you had the whole board wrapped around your fingers, trying to get Sue's pay back at $10 an hour. They didn't attempt to keep a qualified court clerk why did you think they would vote to help your old ass and you don't even want to go to training classes? Did you, Rebecca and Stephanie sit in the office and plot that move to get your pay reinstated? Quite sure you did.
ReplyDeleteI just found out about the informer and I find it quite intersting. I noticed how ppl tend to take sides. I think the blog is very informative. I see some ppl have tried to turn it into a Jonathan vs Stepanie issue, but I just think Jonathan want the ppl of Lumberton to wake up and realize what's going on at city hall. I graduated after Jonathan and before Stephanie. I knew them both when we attened Lumberton High. I knew Jonathan to be intelligent, quiet and to be honest, kind of weird. He said and did some off beat things but he was a master of the written word. Stephanie was a cheerleader, but my interaction with her was in show choir. I would describe her as dumb but she wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack. She realied on others for a lot of help when it came to school work and it seems she's still doing the same in her current position. I just think there are some serious changes that need to be made at city hall and I just hope the ppl of this city listen before it's too late. I know that some ppl of Lumberton has tried to make Jonathan the villian in all of this but I am glad he's letting the ppl know what's going on and I can't believe that all of this time and effort is just a bunch of opinions. It must be some truth in what he's saying or some sort of legal action would have been taken now. I know it's hard for me to be objective when I live so far away from Lumberton, but if I lived in Lumberton, or served as an elected official. I would try to work with Jonathan instead of working against him. Despite what you think about what's being said on this blog, ppl are reading and sooner or later, the elected officials will have to respond to what is being said.
ReplyDeleteI like reading the informer b/c it's my laugh for each day! All these comments have to be approved, and hmmmmmm who decides which ones make the cut????? It can be informative, but it's also very biased. And name calling, OMG ppl wake up! All that junk about sticks and stones isn't true. WORDS DO HURT! The problem in Lumberton(always has been a problem & always will be) that people worry about other people's business. If they'd sweep their own front porch and stop worrying about everybody elses, they'd have a full time job!
ReplyDeleteOk, I have sat back and let ALOT of things be said about me and my family. I told myself I was not gonna respond to such lies. But when it starts to involve my children.....my claws will come out. First of all, John.....you NEVER called and spoke to me about the airport this THursday or any day this week. And if you had talked to me you would have been told the truth. The City gets $100 dollars a year from the skydivers. Yes I agree we need more revenue from the airport and I have been fighting for that. I came to you after a board mtg in September and asked before you post anything about me on this blog to give me the respect and consideration to come to me first and get the truth. Since then you and some of your readers have said very nasty things about me and my family. When my child comes to me and asks me to quit because of the lies being spread, thats where I draw the line. All of you anonymous people...just remember you may choose to be a coward behind your statements about me, but your IP address is not so anonymous. And John when you approve the comments, it makes you just as lible. As far as the comment above about they knew me in high school. Yes I was a cheerleader, in show choir, and was on the color guard as well as the student council. I studied very hard and finished in the top 12 of my class. I went on to earn a college degree. I take my job very seriously and strive to do the best I can. You obviously didnt know me very well. I will do my job, and I can lay my head down at night and sleep knowing I have. I will not respond to these lies anymore. I know my Lord and Saviour knows my heart and that is all that matters to me. I will pray for all of you who have nothing better to do than to spread lies and gossip about the City employees and City officials. God Bless!

Damn girl. . you must be serving Satan since the bible says he come to steal, kill and destroy. You, in all of your Christian values, didn't think twice when you plotted to get rid of the clerks that didn't cover you tail. I have another job, no thanks to you. You tried to steal my career, kill my hopes of taking care of my family and destroy my reputation, but I am thankful that I have another job; a job where I'm appreciated and don't have to look over my shoulder. But you go and try to get a non-qualified clerk her regular salary, but didn't want to keep a qualified court clerk. I wonder why? But hey, if Sue's stupid enough to keep doing your dirty work then I wish her the best. So stop trying to protray yourself as the victim. When everyone else got a cut in pay, yours remained the same. By the way, you remember the gossip you and Sue told me about the Mayor. . So please, don't get on her acting like you want the gossip to stop. You just don't want it to be said about you.

I'd rather take me and my degree and go work for some place other than at a City Hall......city/state workers in Mississippi don't make any money AT ALL!! Since you did not post that comment about that, it is obvious that you are just in this for the entertainment and ridicule. You are afraid that people will stop commenting and keeping the stink stirred, dragging what would be a decent blog down into the toilet with their idiocy and poor language. ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact El Paso, should anyone decide to file a slander or libel suit, the first thing the judge will do is write a court order to get the IP addresses of every poster on this blog. If you are posting from your home, guess what? Your IP address is logged everytime you do anything on your computer. Yes, your router has an IP address. If you use dial up, you dial in to a server that assigns you an IP address. Also, if you are using public wifi and a laptop, guess what? That MAC (Media Access Control) address from your laptop is logged with the IP address of the wireless router you are getting your signal from. So for everyone here, if a comment or story on here can be proven to have caused someone to lose their job, pain and suffering of their children or any other tangible harm, a judge will be able to track who you are. How do you think they find the people who download music illegally? I'm pretty sure the persons here calling people big dummies are even bigger in the dummy department.
ReplyDeleteIn order to win a civil lawsuit for libel or slander, you will need to be able to prove that the statement (either written or spoken) was false. In other words, you have to demonstrate in court that the statement has no element of truth. This can be far more difficult than you would imagine, so it's important that you pay attention to this point. Slander and libel suits only happen among rich and powerful people. Not us, those living in Lumberton who work hard just to get by. The age of blogging and Facebook has taken the ugly that used to be hidden inside all of us and has put it up on display for everyone. Where once we might have thought about our words awhile before stating them, took the time to really think about the situation and weigh all the information...now it is just raw emotion blurted out in print and in public the second the feeling materializes. And what good has this blog done for the city? Nothing of any consequence. It has hurt people and their families and accomplished nothing but the fueling of ego and hatred. It may have even contributed to the bull-headed displays made by the Alderman. It made them not even want to listen to any citizens' comments or questions because citizens all want to discuss things said on the blog instead of ask real, thoughtful questions of the Board...questions they might have authority to answer. What is the Board exactly supposed to say or do when a citizen stands up and says something about the blog stating that someone was "giving heads to the alderman"? Sadly hilarious, but unaswerable by the Board.

On Wednesday, the ACLU, which had intervened in the case, turned over the Internet Protocol addresses of six individuals who made specific posts that Mr. DeRosa mentioned in his court filings.

Someone just shared this link with me to an article about a judge ordering the IP addresses of anonymous posters to a message board. Apparently a city councilman called in the ACLU to intervene because he felt he had been defamed on the blog.
