Three Suspensions in Two Days

I noticed that WDAM and the Hattiesburg American reported that the board voted 4-1 to suspend the two police officers without pay. Either they were misinformed or Bobby Gibson is so clueless to his duties and responsibilities that he also cast a vote. At this point, it's easy to believe either scenario. Not long after the news crew left Lumberton, board-appointed chief Dennis Hobson, suspended police clerk, Sharese Pearson. Prior to the board meeting, Hobson and his crew of supporters filled the hallway like members of the Lumberton Aryan Brotherhood; surprisingly, even the ones down with the swirl were at his side offering their support. So let's recap the recent events: Franklin was suspended for not giving Hobson keys to Chief Fortenberry's office, Cassandra was suspended because she wanted to know why her insurance was cancelled and Sharese was suspended for. . well, I still don't know why Sharese was suspended. Whatever the reason, I'm certain that the board will give him all of their support. I had another blog post for today, but since I didn't want to be the subject of Wednesday's bible study, I will save it for tomorrow. WTBS. I'm glad that Mayor Holder is out on medical leave because they would have found a way to blame her for all of the mess that's going on right now. It's interesting when you actually see news happening. You see them doing all of the interviews and camera shots; then when the news airs, you wonder what happened to all the other footage. I guess they didn't get the story they thought they were going to get. The following is an excerpt of a comment that was left the other day: "I would be worried about some of the other people you write about, because some of them have a lot to lose because their businesses and livelihoods are tied up in the politics of this town and this county." This blog represents the opinion of one person, hoping that others will open their eyes to see what's taking place in their city. It amazes me that the same group of individuals that cancelled several special called meetings that were scheduled by Mayor Holder, but dropped everything to come in to suspend two police officers without pay and without hearing their side of what happened. Prov. 29:2 states" when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." So, ask yourself, are you rejoicing or mourning?

  1. This is all so very sad and yet infuriating at the same time. But what can anyone do? Everyone knows that so many things that have happened since this Board took their seats are unjust, wrong or illegal--no matter what color you are or what side you are on or what church you go to. What can citizens do? The Board keeps getting away with things. I know people would call and complain about all of the mishandling going on but tell us who to contact! Who is it that will come down to Lumberton and suspend or arrest or fine the those who are causing all of this craziness? What in the hell is going on here? Unfortunately that quote is dead on, so just be careful. But they can't threaten everyone who complains. Everyone just needs to know who to call, who to write to to demand justice. As much as you have researched state law, surely you must know the people we need to call and write to, to file complaints with. Please post that information!

Suspended MPD officer still facing legal woes
    By Brian Livingston

Daren Dennis Hobson, a Meridian Police Department officer currently on suspension from the force without pay, still faces legal issues.

According to a recent indictment from a March Lauderdale County grand jury, Hobson faces attempted false pretense and forgery charges.

The attempted false pretense charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred in July 2008 and involved the attempted purchase of a laptop computer from a Meridian electronics business. According to court documents Hobson used the name of another person instead of his own on the credit application form. The forgery offense, said court documents, was in regards to an alleged forged personal check Hobson is said to have tried to pass in May of 2002.

Asked the status of Hobson in terms of a police officer for the department, MPD Chief Benny DuBose said he is on suspension without pay.

Hobson, 38, of 3436 Poplar Springs Road, had been with the department for a little more than a year and was one of the DUI officers on the force. In May, Hobson was recognized in Jackson for making more than 100 DUI arrests in 2008."

Now tell me if he is a thief like the City Clerk, Stephanie Sticky Fingered Mullings!! I agree Two thieves plotting to try and run the city of Lumberton along with Dummy 1(Bobby Gibson), Dummy 2(Kent Crider), Dummy 3(Tim Johnson) and Dummy 4(Rebecca Hale)!! Kmsl!!
