Rise Mayor Holder Rise
"You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies. . . You may tread me in the very dirt . . . But still, like dust, I'll rise."--Maya Angelou
Yesterday, I heard some great news regarding the City of Lumberton. Mayor Holder met with a company that's looking into taking over the Land O Lakes Farmland Service Building (the feed mill) and on November 1, 2011, ADP (Area Development Partnership) entered into a lease agreement for the location and are helping to establish a business here in Lumberton. We all know that there are some that call the area reporters whenever they think they have some despairing news regarding the mayor, but in their attempt to smear the mayor; they're smearing the City of Lumberton and its residents.
I am glad to see that Mayor Holder has chosen to rise above the fray and continue to lobby for industry of the City of Lumberton. This is not the first time you have seen Mayor Holder seemingly at her wits' end, but she has always risen much to the dismay of her adversaries and the delight of her friends. I know there are some that will never say anything good about Mayor Holder, but I want to remind you that thanks to Mayor Holder the city is benefitting from the Main Street Renovation Grant. When she was alderman at large, several mayors tried to let the grant die, but she keep working to ensure that our city benefitted from the grant. She also worked closely with the planning and zoning committee to get Azalea Gardens located in Lumberton and soon contractors will be breaking ground on the multi-million dollar facility for the elderly and disabled. Mayor Miriam R. Holder will not give up on you and all she asks of you is that you do not give up on her.
Voting her into office was not the end of our job. Attending one or two meetings is not the end of our job. We can not sit back and expect Mayor Holder to do the work alone. Now is our opportunity to take a stand with our mayor. It is time for us to remain involved and make good on the hopes and dreams of this city for all of Lumberton. Despite all of the attacks, personal, professional and political, Mayor Holder is still working to revive the City of Lumberton. Let her drive and determination for a better Lumberton inspire you to be the change you were seeking. Make a vow to be and remain active in your support of Mayor Holder. Don't give up on Mayor Holder. In fact, if you help her to rise, you will rise with her and help her make this city the wonderful place where every man and every woman can live freely without sanctimonious piety and without crippling fear. Stay active, and stay involved. Let us move swiftly ahead with measured intent because I want to see Lumberton take wings and soar.
I'm glad to see that Mayor Holder is still moving forward. I agree with this post and I was at the meeting after she was charged with obstruction of justice and it was standing room only. Those supporters need to fill the room like that at every meeting because we all know that Bobby Gibson has sold out our community and we need to look him in the face everytime he votes against growth in Lumberton and for everything his business partner put on the agenda. Plus, I would like the people of Lumberton to come to the meeting so they can see for themselves the behavior of the board and we need to stop electing people that have never attended a board meeting before they were elected. They need to sit in the audience before they sit on the stand. Stay strong Mayor Holder and I will be there to support you.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that the person running the other Lumberton facebook page is finding out about the complexities of hosting a page. She said that things got out of hand and she didn't want things to get ugly and had to delete a string of posts, but I noticed that she left all of the negative things that were being said about you on the page. I guess you can remain negative as long as it's directed towards you and the mayor.
ReplyDeleteI support you Mrs. Holder and I pray that you keep your sanity in all of this mess. There are people saying that this is not about race, but I don't know what it's about if they're not attacking you because of your race or your gender. The other night at the baord meeting, Tim Johnson told you that "you were the superintendent of this city" and you should have told the clerk those things before the meeting. Well, the last time you addressed a department head outside of a bord meeting you were charged with obstruction of justice. I don't know how you do it, but you still seem to have joy. At least you will be able to walk away from this experience with you head held high; Bobby Gibson will have a belly full of regrets after all of this is over; he's probably having them now, but he still has time to change or he can stay ig'nant.
ReplyDeleteStay ENCOURAGED and know that we are praying for you and your family. I also like the new direction Jonathan is taking with this blog.
