No Loitering @ Frank Lee Homes

In response to the antics that took place on last week, the management of Frank Lee Homes has erected two no loitering signs. There are several problems with this band-aid approach to a issue that would be better served with chemo treatments. First of all, the signs are directed towards a group of individuals that probably has no idea of the meaning of the word loitering. More than likely they think it means littering. For those not in the know, loitering is the act of remaining in a particular public place for a protracted ( prolonged - long - extended - lengthy - long-drawn) time. The second reason the signage probably won't work is the location of the signs. The migratory paths of those that chose to loiter on the corners of Myrick Avenue and North 10th Street are clearly marked by areas of dead grass, cigarette butts, plastic cups, empty soda bottles, paper plates, candy wrappers, etc. despite having a City of Lumberton trash can within reach. But for some reason, the management chose to place the signs outside of the areas of normal foot traffic. The third reason the signage won't work is noted on the signs. The sign states that the no loitering is police enforced. Everybody knows that the LPD does not patrol much after o'dark thirty (usually 11:00 p.m. -7:00 a.m.) So, buying a sign that gives the impression that it will be enforced by the police department is moot, especially if the police department is not going to enforce the signage or the city wide curfew. WTBS. it's time for Frank Lee Homes to get off their duff, install more security lights (most people don't hang out in well-lit areas for fear of being identified), bring in their own security personnel, and unfortunately, begin cancelling the leases of those that continue to allow their guest disturb the peaceful enjoyment of others.

  1. Well, you have another problem, the people affected by the signs are not the ones reading your blog. So, maybe you should hold a bbq or a fish fry and explain it to em.
