How Did We Get Here?
For those of you that don't know, there was no board meeting last night. The news program listed the meeting as "chaos." But I was glad to see so many in attendance at last nights meeting, although nothing was accomplished. This board has been in office for 15 months, and what happened last night was only the tip of the iceberg. This has been taking place since day one, and I just don't know how we, as a city, got to this point. When Alderman Kent Crider turned to Alderman Gibson and said "you know what we talked about. . .are you ready?" Next thing I know, he is standing up, having a brief exchange with the mayor and then he exited the building. There are so many things going on in this city, and none of the aldermen, with the exception of Alderman Quincy Rogers, seems to care about what is "truly" going on at city hall. I don't understand why there is such much energy put into keeping the mayor from addressing the citizens of Lumberton. After the meeting, a resident from Ward 4 asked her alderman, Timothy Johnson to explain what was going on, and his response was that there is something bigger going on that we [the citizens] don't understand. So, I would like to know what he was talking about, but he would not comment any further. Last night, Bobby Gibson, Kent Crider, Rebecca Hale, and Timothy Johnson showed the voting public that they HATE Mayor Miriam R. Holder more than they LOVE the City of Lumberton.
I am embarassed to say I live in Lumberton, from these articles, to our mayor and alderman, this is a crying shame. Our community just lost two of the biggest employers and to watch theses so called elected officials conduct themselves this way on tv, it is a shame. We need a recall election but the sad part of it is, that most people that really care about our city won't run because of the financial mess the city is in and from what you can see on tv, the mayor nor the board seems to really care. Our little town is falling apart at all areas but all you have to do is look around, we keep the grass cut, the garbage picked up but there is no discussion on trying to find new businesses to come to our town. If our elected officials had any sense, they would all resign because you either do the right thing or continue to look like idiots.....again I am ashamed to tell people I am from Lumberton.

ReplyDeleteThere was alot of disrespect at the So called board meeting last night.. You could sit there and keep hearing smart remarks by the crowd. Eveyone there seems to forget that this city is dying and what last night did was just pull the plug even more.. No I personally do not have anything against Holder Lord knows I have know her since I was a child and that was a while back. But the disrespect was not only shown to her but to the citizens of Lumberton. The Mayor even had to keep telling her husband to be quiet cause he keep on with remarks.. Yes the was wrong from the FRONT row to the BACK... PEOPLE WAKE UP.

I dont think its anything to do with race and I am here to tell you.....when we all die, there want be racism in heaven....and I pray that is where all of you will be at! Lets get it together LUMBERTON and get some folks in the city hall that show love and follow the Golden Rule of treating others the way you want to be treated!
ReplyDeleteTim Johnson is suppose to be a preacher. Who in world would want this man to teach them out of his bible? Bobby Gibson needs to be a leader and not a follower. Tim Johnson just needs to go home and run behind Ben. He must think a woman only belongs in the bed and kitchen. I hope he don't come and ask me to vote for him. I will answer Hell to the naw. Bobby Gibson is being led around by the noose.
ReplyDeleteMayor Holder's actions last night just made her look completely insane. If she had a point it was totally lost in the way she conducted herself. None of it was right on any front. All last night did was illuminate the ignorance at city hall. Those aldermen that do care are outshined by the people who crave the spectacle. This blog, which was meant to get people involved has become a huge part of that very circus.
