Tonight Is The Night

The regularly called meeting for the Lumberton Board of Aldermen will be tonight at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall board room. Several special called meetings were posted throughout last week, but the never achieved a quorum. Tonight, we get the opportunity to question our elected officials about our water bills, the constant influx of billing erros, the urgency to have a special called meeting about personel issues within the police department, and the recent announcement of the pending closing of Cooper Industries. Monday's meeting is the only meeting that citizens comments are allowed. Naturally, citizens make comments throughout the Tueday meeting, but they are officially given the opportunity to address the Board of Aldermen on Monday night. Ideally, this meeting should be SRO (standing room only) but hopefully, enough concerned citizens will come out and confront their elected officials. For those of you that seem to think that my blog is based soley on opinions and innuendo, this is your opportunity to come and see for yourself if the information I put on the blog is based on fact or fiction.

    WELL HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET TO BRING UP WHAT HAS HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND !!! THE WAY GROWN FOLKS AROUND HERE WATCH CHILDREN FIGHT LIKE IT WAS PPV TV !! IT IS SAD , WERE IS THERE COMMON SENSE TO STOP THIS SENSELESS VIOLENCE IN OUR TOWN . ? INSTEAD THEY WATCH AND CHEER FOR IT IT IS JUST A SHAME .I FEEL WE NEED TO RENAME THE POLICE DEPT !! JUST CALL THEM ZOO KEEPERS CAUSE THAT IS ALL THEY ARE , LEFT TO DEAL WITH THE ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN BORN AND RAISED IN THE STREETS . I FEEL WE NEED THESE ANIMALS PUT BACK IN THEIR CAGES !!! IE JAIL OR THE LAMAR HILTON !!! HOW CAN ADULTS CALL THE POLICE THEN TRY TO ASSAULT POLICE WHEN THEY SHOW UP ? I DON'T KNMOW ONLY IN LUMBERTON , ANY WERE ELSE SHE WOULD BE IN JAIL ON ASSAULT CHARGES AND AS FAR AS JOJO HE NEEDS TO SIT HIS FAT ASS DOWN BESIDES RUNNIN AROUND WITH A GUN LIKE HE IS GANSTA , BETTER YET TAKE HIS ASS TO OAK GROVE WITH HIS MOMMA !!! IT IS THINGS LIKE THIS THAT MAKE PPL NOT WANT TO INVEST IN OUR DYING CITY . SO WHEN YOU WONDER WHY WE DON'T HAVE STORES , PLACES TO EAT OR THINGS TO DO JUST THANK THE YOUTH OF OUR CITY AND THE LACK OF RESPECT THAT THEY HAVE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT . IF THE ADULTS WOULD SET A BETTER EXAMPLE MAYBE THAN THE CHILDREN COULD LEARN WE ALL NEED TO GROW UP AND STOP BEING CHILDISH . LETS GET BACK TO THE GOOOD OLD DAYS WHEN A DRUG DEALERS WAS AFRAID TO WALK THE STREETS NOW IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS AN OPEN AIR DRUG MARKET ???THE ALDERMAN NEED TO SUPPORT OUR POLICE AND STEP UP ENFORCEMENT OF DRUG CRIMES AND MAKE IT A TOP PRIORITY FOR THIS TERM , STAND BEHIND THE BADGE NO MATTER WHAT !!! SEND DRUG DEALERS TO JAIL AND USERS TO REHAB AND WE MIGHT HAVE MORE TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE FUTURE BESIDES STORES CLOSING ?

    The police and aldermen are working with the drug dealers. They know who selling and do nothing about it. Some of us are working people trying to make it and the drug dealers are riding around with no worries. I just read in the paper where an 18 got arrested for selling. What about the old, middle age men that won't work at a pie shop? They ride all day. Dang I can't even put gas in my car to go to work and I have to pay taxes for them to pack pavement(ride all day packing the pavement on the streets.) Only in L'ton.

    To the above anonymous person. I was not just talking about the chief. I'm talking about all of them. Why haven't there been any drug bust lately. Tell me that. It's drugs being sold on every corner. Don't look to good to me. It seems to me I got the right Police Chief.

    Drugs are not only being sold on the corner..but also at the school...this is a sad sad place to live in...can't wait to leave!!!

I called this post the pills and potions edition because after looking at the budget that was presented; it's obvious this board is overdosing on something. I can't tell where any real cuts were made to the budget; it seems the same. The fact that the board paid Richard Rose $1, 600 to prepare this budget is a joke. Why do we have a city clerk if she cannot prepare a budget? What is she doing all day other than reading the Lumberton Informer or thinking of her next lie? The board claimed that Richard Rose was doing this out of the goodness of his heart, that he knew the City of Lumberton was not in a position to pay him. So, rather than charging the normal going rate for an embattled city manager that was allegedly terminated for not reporting to work and other matters; Rose decided he will charge the fiscally challenged City of Lumberton a mere $1,600 and a motorcycle. Stealing Elections: Lumberton Style

Last night when I went to the Ben Barrett Voting Center to watch the counting of the vote, I entered the building about 10 minutes before the polls closed and the picture above is what I saw. Throughout the day, many people expressed their concerns that the poll workers didn't match the demographics of the City of Lumberton. I shrugged it off after someone texted me, assuring me that the election was going to be fair. Well, that was not the case. Later in the day, a voter came to me with evidence that the votes had been compromised. They gave me two torn affidavit ballots that were torn up and thrown in the trash in the women's restroom at the voting center. Interesting. There was another person that came to me about the conversation they overheard between Cora Rogers and her mother, Voncile Richardson. Kim Rogers: A Phenomenal Woman

I've always said that I don't offer balance throughout this blog. It seems that most of the focus is placed on the bad things or more gossipy topics, but I think today is a good day to give credit where credit is due. I know she don't do what she do for attention or accolades but I would like to tip my hat to Mrs. Kim Rogers, founder of the KeKe B Foundation. Kim, like many other women of our community, is a testament to the power of hop, courage and resilience of a loving mother. I don't know how she does it but she has chosen to take a stand when others would have buckled under pressure. Her dedication and courage has touched so many people in so many ways. The work she's doing through the KeKe B Foundation will be a beacon for many generations to come and the she many never realize the impact her courage has made in the lives of others.
