What the Hale is Really Going On?
Last week, I promised a follow-up story about the conversation Rebecca Hale was having with several concerned citizens and the flagrant remarks she made about Deputy Clerk, Betty Speights. In the midst of getting the post together, another interesting detail emerged and I was torn as to weather or not I should include that matter in my post. So, I had a discussion with several of my friends on facebook and the majority of them said that I shouldn't mention what happened. Surprisingly, they were quite compassionate when they spoke of the matter. Some said that she shouldn't be judged for another person's actions, and someone said that we can't help who we love. I thought this was quite ironic. We have people being compassionate towards Rebecca Hale, but just a week ago, Rebecca was not able to show any compassion towards the employees of the City of Lumberton. For instance, she was dead set on voting to terminate Betty Speights and she claimed her reason was because Betty had giving a $200 water adjustment to her sister, Tina Holder. (Can anyone say retaliation?) A few days after Tina Holder requested an investigation of possible water bill fraud, the board of aldermen, with the exception of Quincy Rogers, voted to terminate her sister, Betty Speights. When confronted by several citizens about her vote, Rebecca said that "we can't have a clerk like that working in the office." What did she mean by that statement? Did she mean that we can't have a law-abiding, drug-free individual working at city hall or did she mean something else? The water adjustment Rebecca was talking about was found in the minutes, and the adjustment she accused Betty Seights of giving was approved by the Board of Aldermen along with 12 additional water adjustments. Another instance of Rebecca's lack of compassion was when she voted to slash/reduce the hourly wages of the Lumberton police department. In light of the recent events, it has become clear why she want to get rid of police officers. Jack McMullan presented the board with a budget proposal that would allow the city to retain it's employees at their current rate of pay. Instead of tabling the agenda items that dealt with salary cuts in order to review the proposal, the board moved full steam ahead; voting to cut the pay of police officers hoping they will seek employment elsewhere, while jeopardizing the public safety of the citizens of Lumberton. When Rebecca Hale was elected to serve the residents of Ward 2, she presented herself as a person that was concerned about the citizens of Lumberton. Somewhere along this 15 month journey, she has discarded her cloak of concern and embraced the self-serving mentality of the other that serve along side her. I don't know what caused the transformation, but something is controlling/influencing her recent actions/votes. I wonder what it could be?
YOU NEED TO DIG DEEPER AND TELL US WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
ReplyDeleteSo, was the Owen Hale guy listed in the Hattiesburg American, Rebecca's husband? Why aren't you just giving us the details? I don't like searching for this info, that's why I read your blog. You usually just put it all out there, why are you holding back?
ReplyDeleteJOHN DONT SAY IF ITS HER HUSBAND OR NOT LET EM FIGURE IT OUT
ReplyDeleteIt didn't even say it was her husband on the news either. Still wondering.
ReplyDeleteRegardless if that man is her husband or not, we dont need to even consider cutting the pay of our police officers at all. This town has enough trouble without the troublemakers knowing that we are losing offers due to lack of pay. I didnt see any of the aldermen/alderwomen at my daughters house when she had to call the police because she walked outside to smoke a cigarette and someone walked from a neighbors house and put a gun in her face wanting some money!! We are already at the mercy of a world gone crazy and these men and women that sacrifice their lives everyday for our safety and protection deserve every dime that they make and then some!! The people that make the decisions need to keep in mind that you are likely to be a victim of crime anytime you walk outside your door so instead of cutting the pay of the police officers, you need to see one today and say THANK YOU!! Susan Walters
ReplyDeleteWhoever it may concern! Put HALE AND HALE TOGETHER! AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. IT'S HER HUSBAND. AND THEY SAID THE MAYOR WAS THE DRUG DEALER! LOL! STOP TRYING TO PULL OTHER PEOPLES SKELETONS OUT THEIR CLOSETS. WHEN YOU GOT A FEW OF YOUR OWN.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the "Owen Hale guy listed in the Hattiesburg American", was this recently? I don't get to read it every day, so please elaborate.
ReplyDeleteWow! Im sure when Rebecca said a person like that... She probably meant a person that would adjust her familys water bill.. Pretty much the same as stealing! Course you did it too so I guess thats why your so defensive about it....
ReplyDeleteI guess you have to approve comments so you dont get your feelings hurt.. But you sure dont mind hurting anyone elses or think about what you do to their familys and children do you? How do you lay down and sleep at night? All this crap that is going on in Lumberton, jsut goes to show that you cant give power to a type of people that don't have a damn clue what to do with it... Ya'll have destroyed this town and its getting worse everyday! City Hall is a freaking joke! I have lived her all my life and I remember when Lumberton used to be a good descent place to live. Didn't take Your kinda people long to screw that up did it... Are ya'll to ignorant to look around and see what your doing to this town and to the people that used to love this place.. I am ashamed to tell anybody I live here anymore. It won't be too much longer and there won't be anything left of this place. Its a shame that that instead of growing and thriving like our neighboring cities and towns ours has went to the damn dogs! You keep talking about Rebecca and Stephanie and what about you do you have a clean bill of sale.. I have heard differently.. Shall we blog that! Hmm you probably wouldn't approve. You seriously need to find something better to do with your time than try to make situations worse than what they already are. As far as Owen Hale growing pot big freakin deal.. take a drive through town.. Hes not the only one See those fancy vehicles with the big shiny rims... People who don't have jobs can't afford those types of vehicles. Maybe you shuold look into that... Let me know what you find out! Sure is strange to me that the only blog comments that show up here are one sided...
