Romper Room Politics?
Last night was the special called meeting that wasn't. Apparently, there are those that are still miffed that their golden boy is no longer the Chief of Police. It's time for them to put a period and move on. No one was fired last night, but no was hired either. There wasn't a quorum. The overtime is killing the LPD's budget. Interim Chief Cowart needed to hire more officers in order to keep officers from patrolling by themselves. Everybody knows that as the pollen falls in Lumberton, the crime rates/police calls increase. Just this past Sunday, a resident of Frank Lee Homes thought she was on the set of Waiting to Exhale and starting burning her boyfriend's clothes/possessions. But Chief Cowart need more officers, even if they are uncertifed, because this seems like it's going to be a long, hot summer. There are time slots that are not being covered and there are times when only one officer is on duty. Instead of stepping up to the plate and taking the necessary steps to help secure the streets of Lumberton, our aldermen are having a political temper tantrum because they're upset with the city clerk. Come on now. . gird up your loins and do something for someone other than yourselves. Also, when are they going to make a decision about the Chief of Police position? Last night, I thought someone was being targeted for termination, but I'm not sure since they didn't get the chance to have the meeting. Officer Pack is off on medical leave. If I were him, I would be somewhat concerned; especially since Hobson was terminated while on medical leave. I don't know what's going on, but it seems that there is still some back-biting taking place in the LPD. I guess Hobson wasn't the only one threatened by police officers that are actually doing their jobs. From what I can tell, there is a descent group of officers on duty right now, but if one of them is about to be blind-sided then it would be because they either did their job or tried to make a family member of a board member adhere to the law. Whatever the case may be, it would be intersting to see who's taken into executive session on Thursday; that is, if enough aldermen show up for the meeting. One thing's for certain, it's time to hire more officers and I'm glad to see that Cowart is doing an extensive background check on those she's brining into the city. Also, it's time to go ahead and give her the position of Chief of Police. There are times when I still wonder why Hobson kept her on the force. The logical part of the brain knows that he kept her because she's good at the paperwork and is probably the only cheif that knows how to do payroll, but the suspicious side wonders if she's more like Hobson than we realize? Regardless, she should be given the opportunity to serve as chief; if that's her desire.
I agree, if she want's the position then by all means give her the chance to f up like the rest of them. I don't know where the inner turmoil is coming from, they're like a bunch of crabs in a barrel. Maybe the Tahoe is cursed like the car Christine and it brings out the worst in everyone that drives it?
ReplyDeleteWassup with Martin? I know it's his car, but why would you let dope boys ride around Lumberton with the music blasting and bopping their heads, in your car especially when they were just supposed to be washing it? Now, when it's time to put them in check, you're gonna have aproblem unless they're the real snitches?
