Tales from the Hood--Friday the 13th Edition
Just the other day, I was talking with someone that said "since Elsie took over, things have been calm." Well, if the events of the last few days is an indication of calm, then I need someone to find a new defination. Apparently, the events that happened last night got started at the Day in the Park. From what I was told, someone robbed someone else and the story continues to grow. Personally, I don't understand how a person that was allegedly robbed of a large sum of money has not retailated. If somone stole $50 from me, I'm ready to bust their head to the white meat, but I guess these wanna be "hard" indivuduals handle their business (pronounced bid-ness in the hood) another way. Wanna be hard but light as a feather. One true way of knowing that something is about to go down in Lumberton is the long string of cars that starts to form. In the wild, animals usually run from danger, but in Lumberton, there's a different kind of mentality; they run to the scene and it includes people from all walks of life, the churched and the unchurched. I don't understand why a person would run to a fight, especially when a gun is involved.
Now, this is how I was told it went down. Apparently, Little Las Vegas rented his apartment or bed to someone that wanted to host a smash session. First of all, gross. Second, how in the Hattiesburg are you gonna let someone put some Monica Lewinsky stains on your sheets? Apparently, there was some type of miscommunication regarding the payment of rental fees because someone didn't get paid and now their stuck with washing a set of sheets that they didn't have the pleasure of staining. Now the person that leased the bed, can put two notches on his belt because he basically screwed two people that night.
Somehow, somewhere, a scuffle broke out, someone was jumped, a gun was pulled and the people rushed to see what happened. The parking lot in front of the office building of Frank Lee Homes looked like the aftermath of Black Beach. S/N: I thought no one was allowed to park at the office building after office hours or was that another rule designed specifically for one or two individuals. Back to the story at hand, where were the police during this fiasco because it lasted almost two hours? Herin lies the problems, most of the people there were the main ones saying they want Elsie to run the police department and if this kind of Tom-foolery that's gonna mar her time as Interim Chief, then some serious rethinking must take place. When people were saying they didn't want Pack, they said they didn't want him because "he would have us on lock-down." The current department is in a precarious situation, while they are trying to distance themselves from the tactics of Hurrican Hobson and his crew of henchmen, they still must find their niche. In the meantime, Elsie and her crew still have a job to do. The relationship between the citizens of Lumberton and the LPD is a troublesome road to navigate, but I think she has the ability to do the job, but is she willing to make the tough decisions needed to keep the job?
