Half-Truths

A half-truth is a deceptive statement that includes some element of truth. The statement might be partly true, the statement may be totally true but only part of the whole truth, or it may utilize some deceptive element, such as improper punctuation, or double meaning, especially if the intent is to deceive, evade, blame or misrepresent the truth. Anyone that called city hall asking about their water bill deposit refunds were told that the mayor would not sign the checks. That was a half-truth. It was never mentioned that the checks were not signed because the matter was never placed on the agenda for board approval; therefore, the mayor could not sign the checks until the board approved the water bill deposit refunds.
The purpose and or consequence of a half truth is to make something that is really only a belief appear to be knowledge, or a truthful statement to represent the whole truth, or possibly lead to a false conclusion. According to the justified true belief theory of knowledge, in order to know that a given proposition is true, one must not only believe in the relevant true proposition, but one must also have a good reason for doing so. WTBS: I wonder why customers were told a half-truth regarding the issuance of the refund checks? Yesterday, as soon as the board approved the water bill deposit refunds, Mayor Holder signed the checks.

These stories aren't news. For the most part, we already know these things are going on, but we want to protray Lumberton as a unified town, but there is a lot of deep seeded hatred among it's residents and sadly it always seem to spill over into politics. I've noticed that whenever you post something about Stephanie, Rebecca, Kent or even Olen, then the comments start coming in stating that they are good people, they helped me with this or that. For the record, I am certain that there are some people that thought Charlie Manson was a nice person or Jeffery Dahmer did a favor for a friend at one point, but that does not take away the fact that they are truly rotton to the core. One chick said that if you wanted to know what was going down at Olen's place of business, that you should stop by. Well, when you see buzzards circling, you know something is dead and as long as I see those buzzards (Bobby Gibson and Dennis Hobson) circling, I know something is dead and rotting and they can't wait to sink their teeth into the lifeless carcass.
