Back To School

Summer vacations is about to end. School starts on August 6, 2010 and meet the teacher will be on August 5, 2010 from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Soon, we will see the large yellow taxis, back packs, school uniforms and new kicks. The school supply lists for elementary students are available at the Lumberton Public library. This morning, at Dirt Cheap, there was a bunch of one-subject spiral notebooks (you might want to stock up now) and there is a great sale on uniforms at Da Remix in Hattiesburg. Ready or not, here comes the new school year.

  2. Now you know he's retired, but seeing his bus was a sure sign that school was about to start.

  3. What do you know about the city of Lumberton not participating in Black Friday. That definitely does not want citizens to shop in Lumberton. Or anyone else for that matter. Who made this decision?

  4. They want citizens to shop in Lumberton, but during the last quarter, the City of Lumberton lost over $400 in revenue from sales taxes. So, the City of Lumberton can not participate in the tax free holiday because it would hurt the budget. Purvis, Petal and Sumrall also opted out of the tax-free sales day as well for the same reason. So, shop in Lumberton because the tax dollars are needed.

  5. when you say lost over $400 do you mean that Lumberton received $400 less due to decreased sales or is there another contributing factor to the budget depending on money that has not been made. Isn't that like counting the chickens before the egg hatches? And let me give you another matter to investigate.... Are you aware of all the records kept in the old hospital? Records that have citizens of Lumberton's personal identification information. These records are not secured at all. Just ask any of the unsupervised hoodlums
that frequently vandalize the run down buildings in Lumberton.

  6. Yes. The City of Lumberton received less due to decreased sales. BTW. I thought those records were removed from the old hospital, but I will definately be checking on this matter because those records contain personal as well as private information. Thanks for the tip.
