What the LIHTC is Going On?
Now something strange is going on at Frank Lee Homes. Frank Lee Homes is listed on some documentation as affordable housing but they receive a lot of financial support from HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) in the form of LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit). Well, when I was a property manger, we were told that units could not remain vacant because we would lose the funding for that unit. So, whenever a person moved, we tried out best to make sure someone was in that unit before the next month. But for some reason, that's not the case at Frank Lee Homes. Units have been vacant for months at a time. There are all sorts of people that say they're on the waiting list, but they're never called when a unit becomes available. I used to keep a waiting list and as soon as a person moved or was evicted, I was calling the next person on the list to see if they were still interested in moving onto the property. Afterwards, I would send in the clean up crew and have the unit repainted/carpeted and the new tenant was moved in 7 days after the unit was vacated. It is my belief that the people that were evicted or moved from Frank Lee Homes are still on the books. It's possible they're still receiving utility checks in the names of the people they were so eager to evict. This is where you come in. If you moved from Frank Lee Homes or was evicted from Frank Lee Homes, I need you to get your information to either me or the attorneys at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC ((601) 360-8444) and make sure you let them know that you lived at Frank Lee Homes because they are working on getting a class action suit submitted about the things that are taking place at Frank Lee Homes. The management of MRHA 8 has refused to allow the establishment of a resident council, there are certain tenants that are allowed to violate their lease and nothing is done, there are people that have moved out and are allegedly still on the records as tenants, and there are people that have been on the waiting list for months but for some reason, they are never given a unit. If you fall into any one of these categories, please submit your information because this information is also being sent to HUD. For those of you that moved or were evicted, we need the date you moved. They may be able to go back and do some creative paperwork but they can't erase a check that was issued in your name, long after you moved. If you have any additional information that may help, you can inbox me, call me or send me an email and I will make sure your information gets into the hands of those working on this matter.
