So It Begins....

In case you didn’t know, there was a special election here in Lumberton on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. I don’t know what I was thinking. I thought for once that there would be an honest campaign and I could rely on the integrity of the poll workers. Well, I was wrong on both accounts. Now, let me preface this by saying that all the women can ‘t be considered guilty by association but the it’s clear that something in the buttermilk wasn’t clean. When I entered the precinct to vote, I had to look around and step back for a minute. Wait. Why is this team of poll workers not more diverse and why is the city clerk sitting behind them mean mugging everyone that came in the building. At that time, I should have known to call a few friends and ask them to serve as poll watchers but I shrugged it off because I trusted Ms. Linda. Anywho, as the day progresses, I was receiving calls/texts saying how the poll workers were saying they couldn’t read their identification, telling others that they didn’t need identification and running the affidavit ballots back and forth to the table where Merlene was perched. Again, I tried to remain optimistic and hopeful that nothing untoward was taking place. Well, around 4:30, I get a visitor and she hands me a torn affidavit ballot that was found in the trash can at the voter precinct. Well, finally, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

Why would an affidavit ballot be torn and placed in the trash in the women’s restroom? By then, a friend from Hattiesburg was at the polls and she and another person was trying to figure out why was Cora Rogers telling her mother not to vote for me when her mother specifically told her she wanted to vote for me. I asked a few questions and now I have that witness statement. Unfortunately, it gets worse from here. Moments before the polls closed, I was talking to a woman that was told she had to leave the polling station because she was not a poll watcher. Earlier that day, my poll watcher was interrogated about her presence while others were not. More questions arose when it came to the counting of the ballots. As they called out the ballots, it seemed that all the affidavit ballots, minus one, were for Kent Crider. It was said that there were 13 absentee ballots. I wanted to be present for the opening of those ballots but when I went to city hall the next morning, I was told that Merlene and the Elections Committee were in Jackson. Later I found out that they were in the former records room at city hall but I was not allowed to be present for the count.

That morning, I also asked for a copy of the voter signature sheet and was told that I couldn’t get a copy until Monday. Yesterday, I posted a photo of the torn affidavit ballot and there was some saying it was much to do about nothing. Mary Salter stated on Facebook that she made the decision to tear up the ballot because the address was not legible but it looked pretty legible to everyone that saw it on Facebook. Well, based on the information that was listed on the torn affidavit ballot, I went to the Chancery Clerk building to see if the person was a registered voter for Lumberton. While there, I looked up the name on the torn affidavit ballot and the person’s address (based on the records on file) is 45 West Lake Road, Hattiesburg, MS. Well, since I’m so inquisitive, I left, entered the address into Mapquest and took a ride buy the property. Guess what, there’s some old cars in the yard and the house looks vacant. Sounds very similar to the claims made in the highly contested Hattiesburg mayoral race. Didn’t WDAM run several stories about people that voted in Hattiesburg but had homestead exemptions elsewhere? People were saying that I was blowing this one ballot out of proportion but if one vote is compromised, then the entire election is compromised. I heard that Kent Crider is going around declaring he’s the victor but Merlene announced after the election that there will be a run-off election because no one garnered 50% plus 1. Surely she know what she’s talking about because the City of Lumberton just footed a bill for her to get trained for this Special Election on December 8, 2015 and it included an overnight stay at a Jackson hotel. It was also stated in the Hattiesburg American, on WDAM and WHLT. We shall see how this goes. At first, I was going to withdraw my name and let Kent Crider be declared the victor but when I realized they were trying to STEAL the ELECTION, I decided that I owed to the ones that got out and voted for me to stay in this fight. If they steal this election, they’re going to have to do it in the open. So, they can either set the date for the run-off election or I can continue working on the papers to file in court. Winners never quit and quitters never win. I’m going to #MoveLumbertonForward even if they’re kicking and screaming.

  1. I'm not sure why they won't do a run-off. It would be much easier than going through all of this.

  2. This town does not want to progress. The shenanigans at the election has tainted this city more. The good white people can claim they're not racist because they voted for Chief Coon Ben Winston just to get rid of Miriam Holder and the black community feels bsmboozled because they know that the Coons in training, lovers of dick, Tommy Dukes and Cora Rogers are sell outs. Now the city is about to be the laughing stock again because Jonathsn is going to coirt because of questions about the integrity of the election. Just have a run off and keep Lumberton out the news because the city is going to get hurt in the process.

  3. Your first sentence is the only one you need to say. No one showed up to vote in this election, which is why you lost. How in the world can only 10% of the registered voters show up and you expect anything to happen? 140 people decided that Crider was going to be the mayor? Absolutely a disgrace that no one showed up to vote. That's why you lost. Anyone who didn't vote has no right to say a word about Crider because he's going to embalm the city, and everyone deserves it because no one showed up to vote. What a shame and what a disgrace.

  5. The Citizens in Lumberton talk about the condition at City Hall and how bad the Board and City Clerk and how there are no jobs and no business coming to town and the Board not doing what is right and doesn't know their job which is true but here we are we have the power to make that change and doesn't. People, people people.

  6. We are talking about Kent winning with a 140 votes some of those were given to him they were stolen from Walters. That's why they put those two names together so it would be much easier to change votes. We need to roll back the cameras and see just what happened with the signature sheets and ballots. Only if City Hall would put this much into their jobs for the right reasons. Lumberton would have jobs, business, better school, better streets, etc.

    1. I'm don't think rolling back camera would help. Merlene is so prone to lawlessness I'm sure she's studies the angles of the cameras and knows every blind spot. That's why the monitor is in her office and not the police station. That's why she has a paper trail of request forms but never give a confirmation letter stating she fulfilled the request. There's no telling what she's writing on the form afterwards because several requests I've made have not been answered. She has a criminal mind and breaking laws, stealing elections and lying comes to her as easily as breathing. It's her way.

  7. There's no doubt in my mind that the election was compromised. They keep saying how those are some lovely old women but if Paula Deen thought it was normal growing up calling black people niggers so did those much older women working the polls. I know for a fact that Jerry Walltera received more votes. They didn't steal votes from Jonathan because that would be too obvious so Kent's daughter Nikki can stop using that argument. But they took a lot of votes from Jerry Walters. I knew this election was going to get high hacked the moment I saw Merlene walking to and fro from the ballot table. Jonathan won this election but they took votes from Jerry and added them to Kent. Too many blacks voted for Jonathan to loose. At this point I don't trust the signature sheet. When you get a copy you should post every name and ask voter to see if that's their signature.

  8. Please post the signature sheet. I know who signed in after me and before me and I want to verify my signature. I am concern because Merlene is not one of my favorite people because of past experience. She is a liar and messy. The City Clerk work for the People not against and 10 or 12 people in her corner doesn't speak for Lumberton black or white. Lumberton is one no matter what the race is. I am Lumberton Strong and tried of messy.

  9. Race make no different from the previous comments their are people black and white who act like this same spirit different race. It doesn't matter what race you are, no one race is better than the other it's the spirit of Lord God that makes the difference not the color of your skin. Please People let's get some Jesus and more Lumberton forward for the future of Lumberton and our Children future that's my only concern and Jay has the knowledge so can we put hate aside for a minute and work together with respect? Thanking in advance!!!

  10. Can we put our differences and hate aside for a minute and get Lumberton back on track? Can we Respect each other enough to work together? The Board and City Clerk has had time to prove themselves and hadn't made a difference only add division and fuel hate in this City of Lumberton. We have a candidate who we all can agree is educated and who have a plain that I know will work please take the time and play back his interviews with the news and read his hand outs. I believe he can make a difference in Lumbertom. It like we are afraid of change we are used to the same mess at City Hall. I feel we have nothing to loss if we elect Jonathan Griffith. I don't understand why City Hall doesn't think a runoff isn't need because this election was wrong on every level. Sad to see Lumberton come to this point make me wonder about the passed elections. Let's cross over together!

  11. The events that transpired during this election has me putting a question mark in my mind regarding ever other election in this city. I watched the comments and how people were trying to say that the poll workers were saints. Well, look at the picture attached to the story in the Hattiesburg American. Is that Glenn Lazenby from 4 mile road voting in the Lumberton election? Hummm. How did that happen with the good, honest Christian women looking at him cast a vote. I wonder why no one pulled your tailcoat about that? His Dacebook page says he live in Hattiesburg and that's probably right since his wife lives there and works at the Payne Center. Maybe he's using his mother's address but there's no way Glenn Lazenby should be voting in a Lumberton election. I wonder why Stephanie didn't tell you that. Let me sip my tea and see what's next. Thank God the Hattiesburg American used that picture! Front page proof that they tainted this election in more ways than one.

  12. I know Jonathan isn't well liked in the black community or the white community because Ben Winston, Tommy Dukes and Cora Rogers are actively campaigning agsinst him and we know Tommy and Cora are known to work magic with their mouths. But I refuse to believe that Kent Crider got that many votes. Despite what people think about Jonathan most people in Lumberton knows the history of the Crider Klan. If there were more votes for Jerry Walters I would have believed the outcome but the numbers they're trying to claim are not believable. I should have taken a picture of my absentee ballot.
