Open Letter to Citizens of Lumberton
I received a letter from Bennie Gray and I would like to share its contents:
Hello Fellow Citizens of Lumberton Mississippi,
I’m not sure you’re aware of the things that’s going on in Lumberton or the lack of things that’s going on in Lumberton, but I will try to enlighten you to the best of my knowledge and what I’ve witness with my own eyes.
First let me say that although I’m not in Lumberton I still have Family there and I continue to ask them why don’t the people of Lumberton try to request information on why every city around them are progressing and Lumberton continuing to go backward. They do not have an answer, until this past weekend when I was there , I got an awakening, and realized the problem goes beyond the citizens of Lumberton they cannot do anything because whoever or whomever is controlling what the Mayor, Aldermen and other City officials do is too powerful for anyone inside the city to over throw it’s going to take outside help, it’s going to take someone to get in contact with the Governor of MS and State Officials to get information on why the city is not receiving funds to bring in more businesses for more jobs to the city or what happened to the funds that were sent to the city. The city has been approached by different companies to bring in their business but was denied. So we need to know why they were denied it can’t be because they will bring the city down or bring more in more crime because it’s the lowest it can get right now so what’s the reason. The last big company that employed a majority of the people in Lumberton have closed down, now the people have to go over twenty five miles to try to find work. I have the contact information for the Governor and other Government officials to send letters so please try to contact them so we can try to get Lumberton back into the 21st century and a city we can be proud of when we visit.
Now to the people of Lumberton, Please stop concerning yourselves with things that are not as important as trying to get your city together..Like who’s paying their water bill and who’s trying to help them, stop the gossiping about things that are not important and start putting your energy into trying the make Lumberton a better place to live, it’s the very reason people are leaving and no young people want to stay when they finish school and the ones who stay don’t realize it’s something out there better than what they’ve seen in Lumberton. It’s so hard for me to come to Lumberton to visit and if I need to run to the store for something at 10 o’clock at night its nothing open, if you don’t have a business to stay open 24 hours you can at least stay open to midnight.. And to the people who say what’s happening to Lumberton, just realize it’s not Lumberton the city it’s the People that make up Lumberton that have to make the change..Let’s get started to request the information.

If any of you have email addresses to other people from Lumberton that I don't have please forward the letter to them. It would be good if The Lumberton Paper can print the letter if whoever have access to it will get it into print.
You really must have been away from Lumberton al long time, because Lumberton does not have newpaper anymore. Kathleen Bogle is the Lumberton reporter for the Hattiesburg American, so you know everything she prints has a Confederate twist to it and she conviently leaves out information that she think is against the city clerk, but on so many occassions, she has given her weekly report of the Board of Aldermen meeting not the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, I guess it's just a Freudian slip or a senior moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused, can't your mayor just fire your Chief? Most cities I've ever been to the Mayor appoints the Chief and I'm just confused as to what your policy is.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with Mr. Gray, Lumberton is falling apart and all we are doing is enabling the people that run this city let it happen. I am from Lumberton and no longer live here either, and am ashamed to let people know that this is where I am from because of the publicity. The citizens of Lumberton have never been together to agree with one another not even when I was in school there 25 years ago. Even then every time something happened it was a racial issue and I am sorry to say this my many friends is not racial, it is government at it worst. You have a bunch of thieves in Lumberton and a lot of them or on the Board of Aldermen and Mayor of the town and apparently in the water works department. If you have proof that they are not paying bills and are being treating special then please send it in to the attorney generals office to have someone with some since come and run this city. Stop bickering over small shit and come together on the things that matter. Those of you that are showing support for that corrupt mayor you have need to show more support and help mentor the troubled children at the high school that are shooting up the town and robbing the stores and selling drugs at the school and using drugs. Please get your priorities in order. The children should come first. Get it together and help them do better for themselves so they can get the hell away form Lumberton and all its bullshit.
ReplyDeleteLumberton is a code charter municipality. In order to fire the chief, it requires approval from the board, so when Bobby Gibson says he can't do anything he's telling a lie. If that was the case, then he wouldn't have led the crusade to fire Chief Fortenberry, Franklin, Cassandra Fortenberry and Betty Speights. Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson has declared war on the community that help elect them so it time for those same people to suit up because it's war time. So when Bobby Gibson says it's nothing he can do, tell him he's a liar and hopefully, you will be able to tell him when he's having one of his daily meetings with Dennis Hobson. Another thing, the board knew that Hobson had a history of abuse, forgery charges, etc, but they still wanted him to serve as chief because they know he's dirty. Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson seem more like servers of Pontious Pilate than servers of Jesus. Well, even that assertion is not quite accurate, Pilate at least made steps to make sure that the shedding of blood was not on his hand, while Gibson and Johnson are more than happy to embrace the dirty tactics of Dennis Hobson.
ReplyDeleteWell all I can say for Bobby Gibson is that he is as big a crook as they come. He collects disability checks while he works all the time for people who mostly pay him cash so as to not be required to report his real earnings.
ReplyDeleteCall Social Security Administration and report him. Put the heat on them. Start calling Jackson and demanding answers about these crooked police. They might not can answer you, but just make phone calls constantly, everyday, several times a day. They will soon get tired of answering and somebody will have the common sense to ask, what in the world is going on down there and start looking at things.
