Lumberton' s Secret Lion's Club: The Blind Leading The Blind

I was looking through some older post of one of my face book friends and I came across an interesting conversation. In the past, I have been accused to taking information out of context, so I will share with you this conversation so I won't be accused of taking things out of context. The following conversation took place on August 8, 2011:

Kent Crider: hey chief we have Lions club this thuresday 7 at Hanks office will try to catch you before then but would love to have you Mike and others there (yes, that's the way Kent Crider spells Thursday.)

Jerry Walters: I wish it had been earlier. I would have had my membership feel. Spent it on copay for medicines for my wife.

Kent Crider: that fine we can wait on that but we need members if we want our town back

Jerry Walters: We will be there.

For the record, Jerry Walters can join any group he pleases, but I take issue when Jerry is always feigning humility and talking about he want everyone in this city to get along and work together. How can a person say they don't want an all-white volunteer fire department, but on Thursday, August 11, 2011, he was gathering friends to attend a private meeting of the Lion's Club in an effort "to take our town back?" First of all, when did it become "their" town and second of all, his attendance of this private meeting is in stark contrast to the face he tries to show while in public. I was told by a former volunteer firefighter that Jerry Walters told him, on several occasions, that I was one of the worst things to happen to the City of Lumberton. I was also told that he started his Lumberton Talk page because he was tired of all the negativity of the Lumberton Informer. I have no problem with anyone challenging what I have to say, and he definitely don't need my permission to start any pages or blogs, but I take issue with the fact that he's saying one thing to my face and the conversation is totally different when my back is turned. I don't need Jerry to support me or anything I say. If he has such a dislike for me and the things I say, then he should have the ability to say so. It's interesting that they are meeting under the guise of the Lion's Club. I guess it's fitting since the Lion's Club is know for helping the visually impaired and apparently this group is blinded by their ignorance. They are rallying behind Dr. Vann in an effort to take back "their" town. Hank Vann lost his bid for the alderman at large position due to his lack of honesty. He's still listed as a resident of Lumberton and the house located next to his dental office is allegedly his place of residence. Everyone knows that he no longer lives in the city limits, but since he owns that property, he's willing to use that address so he can participate in Lumberton's elections. I see that the wheels of regress are already turning and Kent Crider is trying to gather a new Klan of supporters so they can take control of the City of Lumberton. I don't know if they're affiliated with the national Lion's Club organization or maybe Lumberton's L.I.O.N. (liars, idiots, opportunists and Neanderthals) club is part of a different franchise.

  1. WOW. Crickets chirpping. I can't wait to see how Jerry is going to respond to this one. Hiding in plain sight. Acting like he's all for what's fair and for what's right and all the time he's just another card carrying member of the Crider Boys

  2. So is Kent Crider organizing this club? Why does he need to take back their town, I thought the had Bobby Gibson and Timothy Johnson in his pocket any way. Is he not satisfied that he has to work with two black men to help ruin this city?

  3. I read this blog a good bit and I have children that go to school here but I do not physically live within the city limits of Lumberton. But I grew up here.I think that once all these racist and ignorant SOB's that have been elected to these position or placed in these positions by other racist and I am not just talking about the white people on the board, this goes both ways. I personally do not see color, people are people and that is the way every one should be treated. Lumberton has always been a racist town and until all the older bigots and racist leave this world and go to hell where they deserve to be,our town is not going to change. At Lumbertons next election some of the younger sensible people in our town need to run for the Board of Aldermen and Mayor. It is time for change. So for those of us that would like to see Lumberton become a better town we need to take back our town and school from these bigots and racists.

  4. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, you almost had me fooled. I thought you were differnt with all your talk about not wanting to be average. I should have realized when you were sayin Johnnie Grant stole that equipment from the fire department that you were no good, but I tried to give you the benefit of a doubt. Now, I'm beginning to believe all the stuff they're saying about you. So sad.

  5. Jonathan,
Just like the children of Israel, so is Lumberton. We wanted a change, along came Greg Cooley, then we decided we didn't want the change we were given, so we didn't support Mayor Cooley. We didn't have the nerve to stand up when he was attacked by Ben Winston. So Greg didn't bother to try and come back but Ben kept going.
We decided we wanted change again, along came Miriam Holder, then we decided we didn't want that change either. So guess what, we find ourselves not supporting Mayor Holder either. We don't have the nerve to stand up when she is being attacked. So hopefully, she will not bother to come back, but Crider will keep going strong. (Everyone don't get it twisted, Bobby don't run sh*&!. He is just the fall guy. When everything comes to a head, he will be the one to shoulder all the blame. He's been an Uncle Tom all his life, and will be just like the ending to the movie, Queen.) Because of our lack of support for our leaders that are trying, we get mayhem in it's place.
That city hall is turning into nothing but a den of thieves, crooks, and the like. There are people in positions that are not even supposed to be in law enforcement. There are people running city hall that should be running nothing more than a water faucet in their 6 x 6 cell.
This place is going to have to be swept clean like God did the Isarelites when they had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until every one involved in wrongdoing was dead.
It is going to take someone from the outside getting involved in this mess. People like you, me, and others trying to do the right thing can not handle this by ourselves. We need to get people on the state and national, yes, national level looking at us.
News 7 is not enough, they all went to the same hooded school, so don't waste your time there, go to the Meridian news for starters.
But like our small town, we are small minded, and we can't see beyond petty issues to even look at the bigger issues.
Tell people you closing the park and they scream bloody murder. Tell them about budget issues, city hall constant mistakes with public money, etc. and everybody closes their mouths and act dumb.
The previous post was right, get some younger, sensible people in office.
Greg Cooley, Curtis Merritt, Stanley Raybourn, Terry Canady, and Nell Busby don't look so bad now after all. At least they knew what they were talking about and how to conduct a meeting and conduct themselves. These idiots for alderman, with the exception of Alderman Rogers, need to get the boot!

  6. No wonder Lumberton is the laughing stock of the area. Who in their right mind would want to live in this environment? Remember, rascism cuts both ways. Until the common goal to improve our town, Lumberton will continue to go down.

  7. Lumberton lions club has been around for years. They work with the national lions club. and everybody in the city is invited. there is no private meeting. if you would like to join then show up. but dont run your fucking mouth about a club that is in the town to help it and not to ruin it unlike the lumberton informer. you always have your own opinion about every fucking thing on facebook. But that club has nothing to do with racial shit in town. its a black and white club for who every wants to come. But i guess since you didnt get a personal invite from the lions club so you just assume its all white but you know what assume means it makes an ass out of u and me.... so fuck this rumor shit about lumberton lions club.

  8. WOW. . .comments from September 19, 2011 @ 9:31 p.m. you are a really presented the Lion's Club in a great light. . .well, not really, that was sarcasm in case you missed it. Like I've always said, the excessive use of profanity is the sign of an ignorant mind seeking a way to express itself. . With club members like that, I neither need nor want an invitation to attend the white only Lion's club of Lumberton.

  9. well the lions club is not an all white club. one of the members is Mr. Bobby Gibson and he is an active member so that shows it is not an all white club. they have lions clubs in almost all the country in the world.

  10. That really helped your case by saying Bobby Gibson is a member of the Lion's Club. Bobby Gibson is a white man's nigger and of course he's a member of the club. I'm glad he is cause when he's at the meetings or getting head from Deaf Ann, I'm getting served some Pumpkin Pie.
